Weekend is over...what did you get done?

yeah, i've had this problem with lockrights before. part of the problem comes from having it in the front, where one axle shaft is longer, so when you turn that direction, the shaft on one side spins faster than the other does when you turn that direction. i don't really know what to do about it, though. i put one in the dana 35 in my last xj, and never could get it to work right, but never had an issue in the 35 in the xj before that.
try pulling the rear shaft, and driving in 4 hi a bit, and see if it gets any better, or worse.
sometimes they kinda have to 'break in', before the clicking gets a little quieter, and the work a little smoother. if you take it back apart, lube the pins with vaseline, or some type of assembly lube. your problem is that the halves aren't sliding apart like they should to let it click, and after some pressure builds up, it lets go really hard.

I agree completely. That's what's happening. The locker should be broke in extremely well as it's been in the Jeep for about 3 years now. lol

It's like the teeth have worn down to where they won't release correctly.

I haven't driven it but once. Since then I've been jacking one tire off the ground and spinning it to see if the problem has gone away. It still hasn't and I'd rather put spider gears back in it before I trashed my brand new ring and pinion...

you won't trash the ring and pinion, just the locker. the teeth being worn down would more likely cause a problem where the locker won't engage and it slips when it should be locked, as opposed to locking when it shouldn't then unloading. you should try pulling it out, and turning it around. you might have put it back in in a position where it is like it's in reverse? pull it out, and swap sides with the side gears, like if one is on the right side shaft, put it on the left, and see what happens. i know it's some work, but if you can get the locker working right, you'll be glad you have it.

well dang.... that's the point where i gave up and went with spider gears. are you locked in the rear? if you're gonna have one axle locked and one open, i prefer my locker in the rear anyway. good luck, brotha. i threw all the ideas i had at you.

Yeah, locked in the back. Full carrier detroit in the back. Looks like I'll be shelling out for one in the front.

I really wish the lock-right would just cooperate.

It needs another coat of herculiner on the lower doors and rockers to cover the drips and thicken it up a bit.

:skull1:

i LIKE the new paint job!!

i hung out with my family mostly, did some work, and finally got to see "the last airbender" last night with my mom-in-law. pretty good movie (cant wait till the second one comes out because im a big fan of earth bending :D)

SCORE! Found a HP 44 for a steal:pirate1:

Now just need to find a money tree so I can get it in the jeep.

I give up on the Lock right. I'm just gunna throw some spider grears back in there for now and in a week or two I'll put a full carrier locker in there and be done with it...

I like the concept of the OX locker. I think I might go with it...

Now, all I need are some stock D30 spider gears. Anyone have a set laying around that they want to get rid of?

Probably still have them. I'll double check when I get home.

What is it doing? Lenny had a problem with one that I gave him that was wore out some and he ground something on it and now it works. Give him a call if you dont have his number let me know.

When I left work friday morning my boss informed us layoffs were coming, he didn't know who it would be, it was coming from higher up.
Friday I get off work, move things around and get ready to move things into my current place (Moved into my fathers house, given me full control of the downstairs (Split level home) since I got a job closer to where he lives and would be nice to save a little cash. Head to greensboro and pack boxes, and get everything ready, go to bed.
Saturday I just finish packing things up, then go to a NC4x4 meet, and then out to a party with some friends, come home, go to bed.
Sunday morning I load the truck and trailer up, apartment emptied minus a few small things and back porch furniture which I may be selling. Get everything to Dads house and unload it, set most of it up.
Go in last night (work nightshift), substantially less people at work, boss says "If you made it through the weekend, youve got nothing to worry about" Work all night, boss is walking around but really not talking to anyone. I figure its because his wifes back in the hospital. I come home, eat breakfast, move a few things around and begin unpacking some boxes.

At 10:30 I get a call from a woman, who tells me my employment assignment has ended, and that I will not need to go in tonight. At first I think nothing of it, because layoffs happen. So I call back in and ask what the reason was, she said "Production, apparently you were too slow" Like, really? I had the highest production on my shift. I understand if they had said "Work has been slow" but to say my production was the issue is downright frusterating.

Starting back to looking for a job. Just frusterating as hell.

yeah, that's some bulllcrap. that's what happened at my last job. got told i was getting laid off because my numbers were lower than most of the people there, although i was part-time. there's know way i could have done as much as everyone else when i was only there 35 hours a week as opposed to 60.

im getting laid off on AUG 6th.. but start a new job in SC.. i hate having to leave Knox again.. but having a job in another state is better then no job...

Didn't do a whole lot this weekend..kinda cold (well 65 degrees compared to two weeks of pretty much 100* is quite cold) and real dreary all weekend. Helped swap out a front main in an Impalla on Saturday. Spur of the moment trip up to to dad's to pick up some stuff and then over to mom's to check out the AC in her Jeep as well as shovel mine out from the beach...finally. Also updated my sticker collection:

Determined that my exhaust leak is either at the flange gasket or from a crack somewhere that I can't see. Checked all the bolts after finding 1 loose before I left for the beach. Didn't check the flange bolts or gasket yesterday...probably get to that this week one evening. For as loud as it is I aught to be able to see the crack if there is one. Only other possibility is there's something up with the gasket. But I put a really nice and thick Felpro on there instead of the crappy one that comes with the APN headers.

Also picked up my old BDS shocks i've had laying around for 2 years...Blue 97 XJ is coming to pick them up tonight for his lift. The irony is they've been sitting in the closet of my porch at my old apartment for 2 years. Took them up to my mom's to store them for a couple of months while i'm in between places to live and two days later he asks me for them..:banghead: Oh well, at least they're going to a good home.

Well the issue was we hadn't had anything to do for the last week... maybe a bit longer. I made the best of the situation as I could, I did whatever needed done. I had only been there 2 months and already had proven my commitment, I was 1/5 guys on my shift (out of about 35) with a forklift license, I had maintained the highest production each day there was presses to run, (my boss even praised me on this) but because I had the least experience I was let go, and I guess they can't say that. I was getting 40 hours a week, same as everyone else who wanted it, nobody could get more than 40.

I had literally just moved to clemmons for this job, now Ive lost it. My father works at the same company, except he is a full time/permanent employee, hes pretty pissed because he had asked HR if I was at risk and they said I was not. Just really shitty how it went down. I know they laid off a good 20-30 folks, but I just wasn't expecting to be one of them.

My junk is about to be in the bottom of my pond. I had decided to break down and buy a nice locker but I'd have to wait untill next payday to get it so I was going to just stick some spider gears in my carrier for the time being. A friend gave me a set to stick in there today. Took the axle all the way apart without looking at the spiders. Both side gears are the right ones, one of the other gears are also correct. The other one look like it came out of a 44. The cross shaft hole is much larger and the OD is larger and it has 11 teeth rather than 10. AHHHHH I wanted it put together today.

I think I've decided on the Eaton E-locker. I do work at Eaton, after all. You'd think I could get a discount.

Also updated my sticker collection.

lol, I've got several of those stickers myself. UF, SEC, and NAXJA stickers.

I feel your pain, kinda. I've been working for Eaton for 6 months now. They went thru a hiring phase 2 weeks ago. There were 35 temps in the building and they hired 15 of them. I was told by SEVERAL people that I WOULD be one of the ones hired on. I wasn't. Still a temp... but I do still have a job so I can't complain. I felt sure I'd be hired also. I had WAY higher production numbers than anyone else on that particular machine, I volunteer every time they ask people to work Sunday. I've worked no less than 48 hours a week since the day I started... but apparently the people that spent all the time under the boss' desk got hired. My time will come, I'm patient. So will yours.
