Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Wow, never seen a valve that was CRACKED!!! Holy crap. I have seen my fair share of burnt ones, but those are even worse!!!

the schmuck I got it from said it overheated and started missing about tow years ago-- he's been driving it that way (getting worse as he goes, obviously) as his DD since then. The part that amazes me is that it's a 2.5L and it would still idle, pull from a stop in first and run 55mph-- drove her home like that (I was fairly sure I was putting another head on it either way at 241,000mi)

anyone need a 2 cylinder 2.5L head for anything?

its a jeep! hehe

went to school today, played some golf, then ran around with dog, and workin at 5.... i may not have much money but i sure as hell have no complaints about life ;)

new head on and replaced H2O pump, thermostat, water outlet, CTS, ACT, plugs, belt, both idler pulleys, and an arse-ton of rotted vacuum hoses. Cleaned IAC and gave her an oil change-- fired on the second crank and settled to a smooth idle without any problems:clap:

So far invested:
Jeep-- $500.00
Reman. head-- $275.00
assorted others-- $200.00

geeze-- for a cheap P.O.S. I've got almost a grand in it-- I don't feel quite as good about it all of a sudden....:wierd:

went to tylers tonight and picked up another set of d44 hubs and rotors off his grandpas bronco and swapped my onto his... thye only have 5 extra holes... theyre "light weight racing" hubs lol

going to take the new ones to a real machine shop and get them redrilled... again... hopefully it wont cost me too much...

Finally got my DOM tubing in and finished my full roll cage, and fabbed a sweet tire carrier on the back. As it stands now, full chop top 2dr cherokee with full roll cage. Now just gotta wait for these 35 inch LTB's to get in, get rid of these 33's, and I'm ready to wheel the crap outta this thing, or until it breaks, probably till it breaks.

I think my CTS is bad - I couldn't get a steady reading from it while the engine was cold. Does the engine need to be hot to test the sensor? I wouldn't think so.

None of the parts stores around me carry it in stock, either. grrrr Too bad the HO sensor doesn't fit the RENIX.

which is the cts?
ok, so i'm currently the owner of three woody jeeps. 2 of which kinda run, and one that might or might not ever run again, depending on my screwy mechanic.
i traded my ninja for an 88 grand waggy, that has a couple minor issues, but isn't far from being a dependable dd. i am still having some issues with my poor xj, but it starts, and runs, even without me pressing the accelerator to keep it going. it is, however dumping raw fuel out of the tail pipe, and only runs smooth at rpm's above 2500. i think maybe the map sensor is mad at me, and it looks like that's where i'll start my parts throwing spree:( on a lighter note, my satellite radio still works in the submarine!!

No, it will read cold or hot, Here are the numbers;

212*-185 ohms
70*(room temp)-3,400 ohms

So the lower the temp the more the resistance.

Check the vacuum line from the throttle body to the MAP sensor. The plastic line broke on mine at the TB and caused the exact symptoms you are describing.

map hooks up to manifold to generate pressure, if line is broke there wont be any pressure and engine will run like crap

Thanks; I thought it should read cold but it wouldn't. I will be picking up a new one today and will get around to installing it this weekend. Should be easy enough to unscrew the old and jam the new one in without making too terrible of a mess (without draining coolant).

I tried that on mine once and still lost about half, i couldn't get the dang thing to catch thread as fast as I thought I could.
