Close...one of my wonderful co-workers actually sold you the parts. Had I sold you the parts, they would have been right the first time!!!! I did however locate us some space along with a floor jack, jack stands, and air tools to use. So I will take the credit on that one :D

Many thanks again for the grub last night too! (despite the lousy service there). Definitely made for a great re-heated lunch at work!

wore out the dogs & kid by lettin everyone outside to play in the great weather we had over the week-end! everyone slept great for the first time in a while!

ran the power wires from the cb to the battery & got it working again. broke a drill bit tryin todrill through the fire wall, said the hell with it & ran the wires arfound the pillar to under the hood to the battery. may not look all that pretty when ya see the green wires on the flat black primer , but what do i care? lol

Literally just finished swapping my 4.10 D30. I'm so tired.
 
well after having duty at my unit Friday night, i got home to the honey do list. my buddy and i removed an old hot tub via pick ax and sledge hammers, cleaned up the mess and hauled it to the dump.

then i went roaming around the scrap metal and scored some stuff like some bead rails and an old pressure cleaner. got home and turned the "trash" in to a welding cart with a storage box on board.

Saturday i did 3 oil changes, (Jeep Taho and the 1500) tuned my wifes truck (it is NASTY SOB) and started swapping tires off the old rims and on to the new ones for the full widths. and i went and looked at a new hot tub.

Epic win in my mind ;)

Just about finished cleaning up the garage, now i need to have a yard sale to get rid of some old stuff!

Changed the OFA gasket (finally!), engine air filter, and oil.

Checked my tie-rod and found that it will shift a full 1 or so up and down at the ball joints. i guess i need to get new TRE's now!

put crap into the attic my wife won't let me throw away and pulled down some clothes for me that i can fit back into again! i've lost ~40lbs over the last 6 mos:)
 
Well i bought the Xj around 3 months ago, but havent been able to drive it as it failed emissions. I am going to post some pictures up here when i get the opportunity in a build thread.

I just got my tax refund money back, so i took it to Rock Solid Off Road for a few different things. First, he is going to check out the emissions and make sure all is mechanically sound. Then he is going to mount my winch bumper and warn 8000 lb winch that i bought on craigslist. Gonna clean up my fenders (which were cut for bushwhackers) along with some other various, random little items. And if it all comes in under budget, i might get some armor!

I cannot wait to go on some trail rides with yall. I have been a lurker around here for quite a while. This is my first jeep and first real off road vehicle. So i look forward to the opportunity to meeting some of you and soaking up some knowledge.
 
Hooked the trailer to the XJ and towed it down to Sycamore Ga for a boat race. Got about 30 minutes from my destination, and the Teal B*tch quit on me. Threw a bunch of electronic parts at it on the side of the interstate, finally narrowed it down to a coil problem. Pulled the coil off and it had a hairline crack on the backside causing a lot of the spark to ground out on the engine case, producing a weak spark to the distributor. Replaced the coil with a new one, fired her up and finished the journey, a few hours later than anticipated.

Fun stuff...

I have had quite a few coils "crack" on my 2 96 model XJ's. I have never had a issue on my 94. I don't know what it is about that year model and coils. What year model is yours?

There are 4 screws that hold the coil in its cradle, remove those screws and lift the coil right out. Most likely the connections need to be cleaned where the 2 prongs contact the cradle and it helps to clean the cradle and coil where they meet to insure a good ground.

chatt, ya'll have inspections there? i just moved down here (to Tenn) just before thanksgiving & havent seen a single inspection sticker yet, for "safety" or emissions.
just wondered about that.




as for what i did , i drove it up to the mail box, turned around & back down to the end of our "road" (lane) turned around again & took it "offroad" in the muddy grass & got fresh mud all over the tires :D . keeping with the "a muddy jeep is a happy jeep" lmao (even if it is only on the tires hahahaha)
