Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Well we have emissions testing before you can get it registered in Hamilton County. There are a couple of surrounding counties that dont do emissions testing.... kinda sucks, but what can ya do?

Ha yeah i cant wait to make my jeep happy (muddy)...

Have the front end torn apart on the 87 xj Going to PAP to get my fender so i can get a good clean one on there so i can start cutting them. gonna try to relocate the canister bulb into the engine bay. Also about to start pulling interior so I can Rhino line it. Any good ideas on Some kind of drain plug for the interior????

there are already pop out plugs under the carpet, and you can go to a marine supply store and get some plastic ones that screw in and out to put in the holes.

Search StumpXJ's threads....he's done some cool drain plugs.....

Is it particularly hard to replace the coil?

No, not hard at all. Since we had spark from it, it wasnt real high on the 'replace it' list. It just didnt have enough spark....which took a few hours of thinking, cursing, replacing other parts to figure that out. :)

I have had quite a few coils "crack" on my 2 96 model XJ's. I have never had a issue on my 94. I don't know what it is about that year model and coils. What year model is yours?

Well that makes sense... I have two 96's.

I used 'deck plates' from a boating supply place. I think they were like 6-8 bucks each?

yeah, the emissions sucks... My truck has expired tags b/c it wont pass and I can't get a new tag. Oh well, I can't "not drive it." And I dont have time to fix it. The code says it has an evap leak, but I have looked and I can't find the problem. I may need to go through the system and replace all of the o-rings and see if I can find any visible leaks. I may replace all of the lines too b/c I am just tired of fooling with it.

well i hope that the county im in dont have that kinda crap. but i did replace the exhaust system from the cross-member back (it fell off & had to be replaced to pass pennsylvanias inspections).

Ordered my dana 44 mini spool! should make my offroading a bit less challenging..

got my xj to run for a full 8 minutes before it started stuttering, ran like crap, died, and wouldn't start back. it gets better every couple days, so i'm hoping that this summer it'll be back to normal. been DD'ing the ninja, and i'm starting to get used to the cold. since friday, i've gone over 300 miles on it, just trying to work out the gunk in the carbies, and whatever little bugs i come across. so far, it hasn't left me stranded yet, and i only have to push start it if one of my friends tries to ride it and floods it out, so far, so good

OK. I'll look tomorrow if you want me to. Drove the jeep around the shop and over the concrete piles in back. I love the new gears. Brakes are better but not where they should be.

use a ratchet strap instead? multiple zip ties? Is the bungie not holding it shut?

ratchet straps.. good idea.. bungee cord is inside the jeep door circles aound the driver seat and back to door. lol

could always pull the hinges and go doorless for a day or two-- just a thought....

funny you say that...
if it wasnt snowing(briefly) while i was removing it.. it may have been an option..
