Replaced my front pinion seal.

I was able to unbolt the pinion nut with a pipe wrench and a breaker bar by myself with no problems.

That explains the play in the pinion and all that racket from the front end.

Swapped in some VERY NICE front/rear seats, carpet, and center console from a 2000 XJ in "camel" I guess. Definitely a nice upgrade over the old worn out stuff. I'm swapping over the plastic trim and door panels this weekend.

Brought my sister home from school today. All her stuff fit in the Jeep... barely.

Haha, I was telling her I fit everything from my apartment, furniture and all, including Jeep stuff and several bikes in a 5x8 trailer, with only my desk in the Jeep because I was too lazy to take it apart.

...and I'm pretty sure I got the idea for those nice comfy leather seats by them looking nice and comfy in the junkyard, but you do have credit for getting them first.

Try that in a Samurai.....I drove from LA to SF (8hrs) for undergrad ('88-'91)....on the way home...if it didn't fit, it didn't come home! Of course I didn't fit any furniture, but boxes...and soft bags...you can stuff a ton inside those soft tops....

What kind of header is that?
I am patiently waiting for a picture of mine (Tyler ahhhemmm) just picking on you man

APN Header...Banks knock off basically. Lifetime warranty! :)

On that note, found out this evening that'll I'll have to do some modifying of my current intake manifold to get it to seat back up. For once I'd like something to go on the Jeep with out turning into an all day ordeal.

im actually looking for a 305 but thanks for the heads up...

Why? I was always under the impression that it was a turd, Over weight and underpowered compared to the 350.

tyler correct me if im wrong, but the reason for the 305 is because cheap good power with TPI, not so much power that i have to upgrade everything else to handle the power and definitely not too little power.

me and tyler talked about this over a pizza tonight.... and yes your right

The 305 is a small bore long stroke engine, which means that when you combine it with the long runners of the TPI intake, you get an insane amount of bottom end torque that is great for crawling around with an automatic with a low stall factory style converter. However, Ghost you are correct, it doesn't make a ton of horsepower. The factory rating was only 215 HP @4400 RPM, but it had 295 LB FT of torque @ 3200 RPM. So it should be great for crawling around, but shouldn't be so stout that he's always breaking things. Not to mention that it's a lot easier to find a roller cam 305 (truck engines didnt get them until the release of the vortec in 96) than a 350. Also, the TPI system looks amazing when you open the hood, its very reliable, adapts to performance mods very well due to the MAF setup (blake has the late style), and it has that friggen V8 rumble that even I can't get from my jeep... lol. One more thing, the 700R4 trans he is getting for free is from a 4.3 blazer... the trans will hold up to the power from a 305, but I don't know about a 350?

If he ever wants to upgrade, he can easily get more power out of it with a cam swap, but one should keep in mind that the 305 was designed for economy and torque. It was never really meant to be a performance engine.

Blake, if we find a good 350, you can get it, worse thing we would have to do would be upgrade injectors, which isn't a huge deal. Just have to remember the rest of the drivetrain and its weaknesses when you are tempted to put it on the floor. There is such a thing as too much motor.
