Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Installed the factory hitch, complete with 7 way wiring. I am trying to put in the damn Electric brake but i cant find the cold side brake switch wire. Installed the woodgrain dash bought from Shelbyluv and installed the Ipod interface on my new head unit. Ran the wiring for the overhead console as well but haven't plugged it in as of yet.

very chitty weekend for me. drove the xj to jackson, tn, went "muddin" with my buddy, and we both got stuck. the solenoids on my winch decided to go bad right when i needed a winch, so it wouldn't pull me out. the trail i had taken off the little place where i've wheeled since high school brought me to the drainage ditch with a huge cotton field on one side, and a huge cornfield on the other. the guy that owned the land was harvesting the corn, and got out of the combine and came at us with death threats and everything else, called the cops, and kept threatening to kill both of us. my buddy hopped in his jeep and took off, leaving me there to deal with a pissed off farmer. i sat there and talked to the guy, offered to give him my jeep and all the money in my pocket if he'd let me go before the cops got there, which he didn't say much to. finally he chilled out a bit and told the cops to leave me alone, but go after my buddy that took off. i got back in my jeep and got it out of the ditch (under her own power) and my fiance shows up(after i told her what's going on) and freaks out on me harder than the farmer did. she wanted me to just leave the xj there and go. once i got away from there, i noticed that my ax15 would only let me have 3rd and 4th gear every now and then, so i had 1st, 2nd, and 5th. i got it all the way back to murfreesboro that way, and i got it to go to 4th for the last mile, and now it is stuck in 4th. i'm gonna pull the shifter out and wiggle some crap around and see if it helps (it has before) anyway, now she wants me to sell the xj to avoid another run-in with the law (this is the second time the cops actually came and last time i actually did go to jail), so i'm gonna "sell" it to my buddy until the storm blows over and "buy" her back then. holy crap.
we've made up now, but i'm still going through with the "sale", to see how serious she was. the chief is currently parked at my friend spencer's house, where i'm gonna try to get the transmission under control when it stops raining.
long story, but i hope your weekend was better!

i wasn't trespassing starting out. i got stuck in a ditch, but could move down the ditch toward the end of it where i could get out, and once i got close to the end, i was on his land, and at that point i was trespassing, but didn't have much other choice aside from walking home and missing school until somebody could come pull me out backwards in a rig more built than mine without getting stuck themselves. i don't think you're a jerk for that, if i were in the guy's shoes, i'd be concerned for my crops and whatnot as well. we didn't mess any of his stuff up, but he was worried that we would. once he saw that all i wanted to do was get out of the ditch, all was cool. at that point i only had to deal with the fiance.

nah, we're still friends. he had to go when he heard "cops" because he had several guns in his truck and a ton of ammo. we had been shooting on our friends land previously. it was kinda my idea for him to take off. no point in going to jail over that, too.

Work, work, and more work. Went to pull-a-part to browse on Friday and came out to a lovely scratch down the side of the fender from where somebody ran into the Jeep while I was browsing. Picked up some compound at work and got 98% of it out...decided to clean the Jeep up as well since it was a nice day.

Spent this morning at the Nextel store trying to get my phone fixed. We'll see if their solution was the right one.

almost got to go to the TN AU game but all the people at my work bailed on me so i ended up not being able to go but i did end up test driving a new JK unlimited and bowling with the wife for a couple hours. that was refreshing (bowling) and informative (test drive).

plus i got to take an old cesna up over cleveland and parksville lake today with my mom and wife and kid and of course the instructor.... pretty much let me fly it by myself (havent flown in four years but it came back to me pretty easily)

all in all a good weekend but didnt get anything done on the jeep.

its not trespassing unless there are signs posted saying "no trespassing" or a gate blocking the roads or anything basically saying no trespassing or if you have been caught on the land before and been told not to come back. other than that. all the cop can do is tell you to leave unless you did physical damage to the crops, the farmer can then press charges.

yeah, there were signs, but not on the end of the property i came from. it's all gravy now, though. i'm just glad to be away from the effed up situation.
on a lighter note, i got me a new xj! wooooo!!!!

yeah, that's it fellas, you caught me... nah the real story is that my old jeep, although it was pretty capable offroad- was almost unbearable on the road, and was falling apart otherwise. i really loved the ol' chief, but i definitely got my money back out of her, and got more than enough for her to buy another really nice xj that just needs a lift, some tires, and a locker. my friend that has her now will enjoy her, and if nothing else, i can always buy her back if i get too reminiscent. it feels like a family pet died, though, i'm not gonna lie. i guess that means it's time to pour some love into the new jeep, dubbed "grandpa" for the mileage and woodgrain....

My wife's stepdad and I built this:
