Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Almost ready to wheel! got to seal off the front wheel wells, move the rear bumpstops, and find somewhere to wheel

Just when i thought it couldn't get any more ugly! :D

Off to a great start for the Memorial Day weekend. My wife called at 10:30 saying the van just quit on her and won't start. Off to the repair shop we go and it looks like they won't be able to look at it until Tuesday. My car is a piece of crap and that is the only vehicle that has enough room to haul the kids.

Yay!

4D's.

Moparmaniac is running one is his rig behind a 440 and atlas... I'm not that crazy on the skinny pedal.

You can put less money in a 14b and have a better axle. Plus they can still be found about everywhere. Shave it down and its no worse clearance wise than an 8.8.

Its the path of least resistance, i have seen many a rear 60 break. Shave, disk brakes, weld or spool chunk and done

Got the new steering in the Jeep on Tuesday and went to start it and the battery was kaput. The one I won at the Crawl in 2011 finally bit the dust. Went and got a new battery and installed it, but haven't driven it yet.

Now, all my Jeeps are going to sit for 10 days. Off to Ireland tomorrow morning. See y'all in June!

Yeah if you are going to run 40s there's no question between 14 bolt and 60 IMO.

I'll keep looking. My area of CL is just dry.

Packing for Morris Mtn. ORV. Leaving in the AM for 2 days of riding supporting wounded warriors.

I was going to go, but my jeep needs work and I couldn't find anyone with an open seat tomorrow.

Spent all day yesterday working on Wendy's red ZJ. New cap, rotor, wires & plugs for a tune-up, but still needs a little more help; maybe a Seafoam treatment and injector cleaning will smooth it out the rest of the way. Then I was off to the shop and I installed a set of factory spring rubbers to help level the front end, then installed new ball joints and this is where it all started going downhill. First off it was my fault for trusting a brand I'd never heard of ("Mevotech" Supreme). These were by far the most difficult ball joints I've ever installed. I thought I was going to break my ball joint press trying to press them in. After I got them in I took it for a test drive, and it had somehow developed a shimmy in the front end. Kind of like that "Uh-oh here it comes!" shimmy just before a full-on death wobble episode. After double checking everything I discovered the new ball joints had almost 1/8" of vertical play! I realize the upper should have some vertical movement but I've never seen it in a new lower joint. So I called Rock Auto and they're issuing a credit and I went ahead and ordered a set of Moogs. I installed a set of those in her gold ZJ 3 years ago and they're still as tight as they were when new. So the lesson learned here is go with what you know works! :banghead:
