Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Got my front end apart to start the lift, but only got one spring in, because I forgot to pick up some coil compressors while I was in town.

Couple pics of my poorly installed bumper and new shoes...
The subframe was a little tweaked from the previous owner wrecking it, so the bolt holes for the bumper
Wouldn't line up. So I welded that beeyatch on there, with a weak sauce stick 110v 70 amp stick welder I got for free.
The welds are hideous, but I couldn't knock it off with an 8lb sledge hammer swung like I was trying to break something, so I assume it will at least tolerate road vibrations until I can do better....

Old man bought a Tracker today for a donor for our Samurai project we started...3 years ago.

OBDII (either a 96 or 97..can't remember), no transmission (automatic that went out...not that we care), with 70K on the motor. Paid $450 for it. And it's a RHD model too!

Now, just gotta find a way to haul it home next weekend from VA....

Project Zebra is about to be back underway...

I would love to build a samurai.... They're the first real side-by-side :D I had a few friends that had some in high school

Only paid $500 for it. Had the original 1.3 in it that the guy wanted back to put in something else (which is why we got it for $500). Said it had a transmission leak. Once I got it home and pulled the motor out, I discovered the transmission was fine. It was the distributor that had evacuated all the engine oil. Had the motor out within a couple weeks of getting it and tried to call the guy to come get it, never could get in touch with him. Eventually the number got disconnected....so the motor sits in the bed of my old mans '78 F-100 to this day.

My goal is to have the Zebra running and wheeling by this time next year...

If you take the drag link loose from the knuckle and take the track bar loose from the axle, use some really tall jack stands under the frame and two floor jacks under the axle, you can drop the axle out far enough to take the springs out and put new springs in without compressing. I have installed as much as 5.5" RE springs without a compressor.

I have a set and never use them anymore

Since Dad got the new Jeep I need to sell his Samurai. You should buy it and swap out a bunch of parts. :)

Well, the thing is that I'll be running stock control arms until I can go pick up my other ones in shelbyville. The stock arms hit the bracketry before it droops low enough to easily get the springs in. I'll change them out Saturday, though.

In that case I remove one end of the LCA long enough to get the spring in. Then put the weight back on the Jeep and reconnect the control arm.

My wife loves her Ruger LCR "hammer-less". Nothing is more reliable than a revolver. I won't own a auto anything for personal protection. Auto's will jam and missfire, revolvers can misfire as well but all you do is pull the trigger again! She has the .38, it shoots sweet. Now I want one!

I shot an LCR for the first time on Saturday. I hated it. 12lb trigger pull Have to pull it a mile too. Rediculous.

I can't tell you the last time I had on of my autos jam. Even the finicky sig mosquito. My wife has been shooting more than me at the "Girl and a Gun" club. She is getting really good. She shot better than me on Saturday. Looks like I need to practice. Ammo consumption is killing me right now.

That's the only thing I'm not fond about with the wife's Public Defender (Judge) but at least you can pull the hammer back on it and make a feather lite trigger. (It's a bobbed hammer)

I really like the lite trigger on my new Shield Vs. the Sccy I've been shooting.

I'm a wheel gun shooter, I don't think the LCR is much different than most revolvers I've owned. S&W K frame .38, Dan Wesson .357, Ruger SBH .44(double action) and H&R 22lr revolver.

I'm not a fan of auto's but I have only shot a few, most of my range time has been on my old Beretta 92F and my sister's Glock.

I'm old school, give me a revolver, single shot 12ga and a lever action rifle and I'm good LOL!

i love shooting bolt action rifles...my mauser has the original 1948 reciever and bolt and its smooth as silk, i love shooting it when i can find ammo

camping out on the couch and keeping warm......

I can sleep on the beach in July, but the first week of March is a bit too much for my old bones! C'mon down and join us in Carolina Beach this summer-- we'll show you how camping is supposed to work... :gag:

Oh it was only 19 Sunday morning, it wasn't that bad.........haha, man it was cold! I'd like to get down there but with Moab on the calendar this year I doubt I will make it.

Nothing wrong with that. All nice guns. My brothers carry gun is a S&W .44. Although he is a bush pilot in Alaska.

On my list are .357 and a judge.

My current carry is a gun I got from dougs boss. It is a sweet gun. He must have wanted my jeep bad.

Little big for a concealed carry, but I shoot what I carry, a lot. This way I'm proficient with it.

What do you guys know about 99 Silverado Blend/mode door actuators? New Body style. Single zone. (Not the dual zone climate stuff)

Am I reading that there's one door that controls the direction of the air flow and one door that controls the temperature of the air?

All I can find info on is the blend (Temperature) door.

My HVAC stays on defrost all the time and doesn't get very hot...

Seems like a common problem and no one has a straight answer.

I guess I'm reading it right that there's one for mode and one for temperature. Of course the one for mode is hard as hell to get to.

Got some more work done on my lift. Still have one more add-a-leaf to install and the rear shocks. It hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be on my New England rust wagon, but there have been a few broken bolts, and the sawzall has come in handy. I can't afford an adjustable trac bar yet, so I'm not gonna put my spacers and shackles in just yet.
I'd be done by now if I wasn't working 2 jobs and had a day off once in a while!
