Went to dad's this morning and drove up on this just a few seconds after it had happened:
I had been behind this guy (in the Tahoe) for a good 10 minutes and got separated at a light. About a mile later after I got through the light I came around the corner to him sitting at the bottom of the embankment and smoke pouring out from the engine. I pulled over to check and see if he was OK and call for an Ambulance. I was talking to him to see if anything was broken/hurting and to see what happened while we were waiting for an Ambulance and he said he thinks he fell asleep...but that he's also a diabetic, which is making me wonder if his blood sugar dropped and he blacked out.
Shortly after I stopped a couple of volunteer fire fighters arrived as the town I was in is fairly small and the FD is mostly volunteer.
Had it not been for the traffic light I would have still been 3 cars behind him when he ran off the road.
The parking lot he landed in was a Baptist Church parking lot, and this was right at noon today which meant a full parking lot of cars. If you look closely at the Accord you can see he brought down the power lines with him.
Didn't realize I got my finger in the picture till after I had left the scene...not used to this new phone.
It actually brought a couple more of them down across the other side of the parking lot with it...I bet he was still runnin about 60mph when he sailed off the road.
Yeah, that really is. Everyone needs to be extra careful when out there.
Oh, I forgot the reason I came into this thread. I went to pull a part and got a 2" receiver tow hitch, and then installed it on my 99. I needed a rear recovery point.
Went to Ghost, picked through his “scrap metal”, used his welder and made a plate to mount the winch on. Gonna paint it in the morning.
:repair: Thanks “G”.. He welded some and got a new blister on the top of his head.:laugh2:
got the 4.0 thats goin in to my 99 cleaned up some more. hope to have it in by the end of the month. (wyfe is deploying and such....) but it might be later
