Turkey Day Wheeling at Moonrocks

Dates, times, locations, and plans have been unofficially finalized to make this the First Semi Annual Thanksgiving Moonrocks Wheeling Trip!

It sounds cooler if its "Semi Annual," dont worry about it.

When: Saturday, November 26-Sunday November 27
Where: Moonrocks, located in the Hungry Valley OHVA which is located just north of Reno, Nevada
Why: Get off your a** and go wheeling! The family is sick of you, so get out of the house!

Detailed plan: Myself as well as a couple other friends are going up Friday night, camping Friday night, wheeling all of Saturday, and driving back down to the Bay Area Sunday morning. Supposedly its just a big outcropping of rocks, so we plan on messing around on them until it gets dark again.

Directions (From the SF Bay area): Take I80 north to Reno. Take exit 18 for NV 445, or Pyramid Way. Turn left, or north. Take that 17 miles north, and turn left on Winnemucca Ranch Road. Continue on until you reach the location.
I dont have a GPS coordinates, I will post them if I find them, but a rough estimation for them is 39.912677,-119.762678
(If you do have a better set, let me know!)

This link should hopefully get you from Concord, CA to the above coordinates.

Weather: Looks like the weather in Reno will be in the mid 50s for the rest of the week with a high of 58, and low of 28. Looks like I80 will be clear and no snow, which is nice. Its going to be cold at night, and semi warm during the day, so pack accordingly.

This is not an official NAXJA run. Open to anyone, bring your family, friends, random people you meet along the way, etc. Make sure your shit dont suck, and plan on having a good time! See you on the trails.

Another slideshow. From what I have read, Moonrocks can be as hard or as easy as you want it to be. Dont let these dumbasses in the foolsized trucks sway you from coming!

Too broke to break, and too much family in town.

Sucks I want to get out to Moon Rocks bad, would be nice to wheel with you again too Matt.

moonrocks.
im jealous. id love to hit bronco and dolores and twister and moonrocks then gamble all night then wheel tonka and then billy bob and then gamble all day then wheel all night....

so maybe mid May?

Yep wish I could go but my "get away from family" time will be spent at work.

Don't keep following Winnemucca Ranch Rd forever... you need to take a left turn off of it to get to the site. A few miles after you hit dirt start looking for it. You can see it from WR Rd.

Have fun and don't destroy your rigs. The big V-notch is harder than it looks. ;)

moonrocks is 20 minutes away through the dirt roads from my place. if i get back from prison hill on friday in one piece i will be out there

X2 on the V notch. Look fun but is hard & will get you in the A**..

Lockwood seems to be south east of Reno, so what's a little smoke between friends?

Friends of mine will be going up tomorrow (Friday). They will be in a red xj on 35s and a green cj buggy on 36s, and maybe a cj on 35s.
If you show up, look for them.

We will be heading up Friday night and arive around midnight or later.

I'm getting excited, but can hardly move after thanksgiving dinner. Happy thanksgiving everyone!

i was rock racing, showin toyota guys how to drive like a pro :laugh2: but seriously i tore sheet metal under the steering box where i had done some previous repair. i think it was one hard hit i didnt see coming when i was tooling around in 2wd. i also bent both bumpers, driver slider, and tie rod. i think im gunna head to bud with you today alan
