Toter home build

Been out measuring to see what I need space wise to build the fridge section at the front end for the counter area, Turns out I only need 2' of facing for it. That works out perfect, I can go buy exactly one more board and have them precut it at lowes length wise exactly 24" wide and then all I will have to do is cut for height once I get my ceiling joists in place. I am gonna have to start firing out the walls and get the ceiling framing done before I can finish out the cabinet stuff. It also worked out that I can buy a 6' counter and will not have to cut it down at all. I love it when things work out

how are you framing in the cabinet and drawer openings? cutting holes in the plywood? is it weird that this build thread catches my interest on naxja the most? lol

My plan was to build a deck on top with rails and expanded metal for views both desert camping, and beach camping but I lost interest. The shower has a lavatory sink with access panel (behind temp. duct tape), toilet, and shower all in one with 50 gallon black water tank, 50 grey water, and 100 clear water. The propane is a 26 gallon out of a class C underneath behind the driver side rear trailer wheels. It has heating. a/c, Freezer, Fridge, stainless dbl sink, microwave, oven and cook top, stereo with the speaker box that's in the kitchen pic. I set it up so I could plug the box outside by amp plugs and shore power. I may eventually convert it to 5th wheel with a flat bed on the 5th wheel for the XJ. I will either ramp it or hinge it with hydraulic rams to incline the for loading but I love my van too much to switch to a truck. Oh water heater is under the fridge!

Once I Have my water heater, furnace and propane box and batteries placed where I wnt them in the floor of the cabinet, I will start figuring out sink and stove and from there I can work on the layout for drawers and doors. I will be stripping what I need off the cabinets I picked up a couple weeks ago. It will be a simple matter of cutting openings where needed and mounting doors and drawer slides
 
went out and started figuring out thr layout on the counter front today, got the furnance mounted. started to do the water heater when I noticed I did not have the cover for it. I called my buddy that had gone with me when we stripped the motorhome and he said it was just laying in one of the side compartments. someone else had pulled it, now I am wondering if it is any good at all. I think I am gonna skip it for now and keep looking for a complete working one instead. I will go ahead and get everything set up for one but will not make any of it live until I get one. Then it wil be simple matter of cutting the wall for it and hooking it up later.I am gonna work on getting the stove and sink in next and then work on drawer and cabinet doors next.
 
I have already got two openings cut and doors mounted this morning. Now I am thinking about getting the Ice Box out of my old camper and see about getting it in this morning also. I have to do the sink and stove before I can do anymore doors or drawers
 
Got the sink cut in and the Icebox cut in now and 2 drawers, Just gotta trim the opening for the Ice box as it just quite does not slide in all the way flush yet. Next I will have to do the Stove/oven so that I can figure out the rest of the doors. I will get picks up tomorrow, gotta get cleaned up and ready to head for work
 
Got the propane storage box loose. Now I need to get someone to come over and help me get the fittings undone so I can slide it out, Needs to be held on the outside while I loosen and disconnect it from the inside of the camper. It has everything I need to plumb in all m propane so now I do not have to buy anything for that part of the project. Once I get it out, I can go and cut a hole in the side of the toterhome for it and mount it.

I'm hoping with a smaller frontal area to get 12. I think it's possible. The tall box and it's drag are probably the biggest problem with going fast and getting decent mileage.

If it has the 4 spd Allison auto which I think it does he be money ahead to change it out to the New World 6 spd Allison which pull like a dream. I also thought I saw it had a DT466 if so that is by far one of the best engines International ever built. The rebuilt kit alone is the cheapest priced rebuilt kit offered because there were so many DT 466. They made a bigger 550 or something but was not as popular.

What material and diameter was the nipple that was cut? I know that a lot of times the plumbing in RVs tend to be a different size than what we would typically find in a standard construction home due to different flow and demand requirements. If its copper, look into some of the oddball sizes that are more commonly used in refrigeration systems and are measured by tube OD (outer diameter) rather than by nominal size or in the case of copper water tube 1/8" over OD (1/2" water tube has a 5/8" OD). So for instance you could look for 1/2" ACR fittings or 3/8" water tube fittings.

I decided not to use this one, I will find another one instead, turns out when I asked my buddy that went with me to strip the motorhome, the water heater was already out and sitting in one of the side compartments, the outside cover for it is also missing so now I am not even sure if it works. I would rather hold off and get one I know works rather than cut a hole in the side of the box only to find out it is junk
 
Well, I managed to get my propane box out of the old camper and got one more cabinet door in place before I had to start on Honeydo's this morning. I might try and get the propane box installed before I have to go to work today. Starting to get pretty dang hot out there.
 
Propane box with exterior access is all mounted in, tomorrow I will drag my son out there to get the fittings remounted in it so that I can route the lines where they need to be. next will be finishing off the plumbing and getting the 12 volt and 110 wiring in place so that I can add the shelves where needed and then button up the cabinet stuff.
 
looks good man. just gotta ask though, what's with all the leftover space on the front of the cabinet? is there stuff behind there, ran out of drawers, or plan on adding a few drawers down the road?
