THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I agree. That's going to be super expensive to ship.

I can't wait to buy shit when I get back from Alaska. The list includes a lathe, not universal 4 link kit, and steel (so far)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Does that get shipped from the shelters of new england up in NH? There is a slight chance I i might be driving up there to pick up a motorcycle shelter between now and this winter. If I do I will let you know, I could pick one up for you, save on shipping.

Edit: Maybe I would have to drive to CT, apparently there is a $50 fee to pick up in Nashua. wtf.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If it's over $100 to ship then I'll think about making the drive, but we'll see.

I have a serious lack of time to do that right now considering their hours are probably 9-5.

The warehouse is in CT, that's probably why.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I checked the shipping, its either $90 or $99 to ship to MA, forget which one of the two it was

And I know that's probably why there is a fee, but still pisses me off that I have to pay a fee to get it to the store. I can understand paying shipping if I get it to my door but I don't like paying for the shipping to get it to the store that I have to drive to.

If you want it soon my brother is at college in CT (UConn). He is coming home labor day wkend. Idk where the warehouse is in CT but I could probably make the drive down to pick him up and stop by the warehouse if it's not too far out of the way. Figure $100 is a decent chunk of change to save if I will be down that way anyway.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah I need to figure it out this weekend and maybe place the order early next week.

The temperature will start dropping significantly by October and I don't want to be stuck trying to build an MJ in the snow. Though I know someone on NEOW did.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Do the round tops have just as much room on the sides to work? That's the reason I was looking at the house top style.

As I said before, if you want you can stop by and look at a round top, I got one out behind my house right now... I can even pull the Jeep in it to give you an idea of how much room there will be (well that's all dependent on if I can get the Jeep running again :wow:)

I did a bunch of work in the tent, IIRC there was enough space to work. I did have doors and other crap leaning up against the walls of the tent while I was in there so my space was limited but I could still move around.

I am not sure. I don't think it could be that much different. I am going to end up buying a round top one prior to the winter to go over my trailer so I can store some stuff on it.

If you dont mind pulling the XJ in and taking some pics that would be awesome.

I just want to make sure I have enough room to do some work. I can work around some minor space issues but I don't want to be side stepping just to get down the side of my MJ.

Will do once I get the XJ running; gotta clean all the crap out of the tent too; maybe I will convince the father to do a sort of fall cleaning and pull everything out to organize it and I will drive in while it's empty. How soon do you need pics?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Well once you get the XJ running obviously.

As soon as you have the time. I want to order this thing within the next week.

Alright, I wasn't sure if I had a couple weeks to get it done. We have a labor day family get together and I realized I probably wouldn't be able to convince the father that a tent cleanup was required until after that (since he will likely want to put the picnic table in there when we do clean it out).

If I can't get the XJ running this wkend I will try and take some pics of my mothers suburban or brother Envoy or something next to the Jeep (for size comparison) and then pull that other into the tent for pics.

Edit:  My friend's sister just got an expedition a few days ago, her folks picked it up cheap from someone they know. Well she was told that the spare tire was flat (just needed a fill) and that one of the tires on the vehicle leaks slowly. We told her to stop by on wed night to fill the spare with my compressor but she went to RI to visit college friends w/o stopping by. Needless to say she got a flat on the way down, called AAA who towed/impounded the vehicle since it didn't have good plates on it (she put the old plates on from her last car since she was told she had 7 days to get it registered but apparently that wasn't accurate)... I hope that's the last time she decides to completely ignore the 2 people telling her to stop by so we can do some simple/5-min maintenance for her before driving to RI.

oh yeah... a bunch of you already know this but we tested things on Sam's jeep and apparently 97s are easier to fool than 98-01s TCU-wise.

I foresee becoming blue in the near future, since I have some ideas as to how I'm going to fool the 98-up TCUs now and I'm fairly certain my oscilloscope has the ability to run on 12VDC if I configure it properly. Looks like I'm going to spend my Friday night unloading spare drivetrain parts out of the MJ and tooling around in the 98 while keeping an eye on an oscilloscope screen :roflmao:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I think I'm going to order one of these pending measurements this weekend. I need to be ready to work on crap over the winter.

nope. spend $300 and get the ones i have from BJ's/costco

Order a round top. The house styles have a tendency to get snow buildup on them then collapse. The round tops seem to shed to the snow nicely.

it really depends on the type of snow, but around here, itll build up no matter what if its a wet snow anyways. only during heavy storms will i go out and check the roof and give it a whack to make all the snow fall off.

go to ocean state job lot and buy a $40 tarp thatll cover it too, itll do a better job of keeping the UV rays from breaking down the actual tent materail.
