THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sorry I couldnt make it to Anthony's tonight. Colin & Sam I'll find a way to get the fans to you. Well Sam anyway.

Scott check the basics and if you need a hand I can swing by. I now know everything about the OBD1 motor, wiring, ignition, fuel, etc. I can even tell you the damn color wire something has and the pin its on in the comp.

Yeah, sucks I couldn't make it either. Was like an 1:15 trip one way wallet wouldn't of liked the gas bill.

Hope you dudes plowed some buff chix pizza and blue moons

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Thanks for all the help, just went for a cruise and spent the time thinking, came up with much of the same ideas :) Also stopped by my buddies place, the guy who got me into XJs (the guy who I was helping with the Miata). He got his trans back in just before I stopped by but it seems his problem is actually the clutch master, though he did need slave and other bearings as well so it wasn't bad to pull everything and do the work now.. but anyway
Does it turn over/crank?
yes

I'm putting my money on crank pos sensor.
already thought of that on the drive, and it's looking like that is a good maybe. Checked the codes when I got home and got 12 11 55, so that def kinda confirms the cps as a solid culprit

Check it tomorrow morning. When mine junked on me I could wait 15-20 minutes and it would start back up again.
I let it sit for over an hour and it still didn't start, plan on checking again tomorrow. May pick up a coil on the way home as well for the hell of it, been 50k miles and 2 years in storage since it had a tune up, figure why not try that out :gee: My buddy's XJ behaved similarly (almost) when it needed a coil.

check fuses first
Doing that when I have light

Thanks, I might take you up on that if I get stuck.

Yes and I have an extra or 2 of every sensor, coil, cps, etc and I know they work. A cps when bad will not let the engine start but if it goes bad while running will stay running in limp mode.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The pizza was yummy and beer cold. And I dropped a couple things. but my clocking ring is mondo close to being done. The only thing holding up doubler progress is making the spud shaft. I'll do that when I get back from Alaska.

In order, the to-do list is:
Make Spud Shaft
drill and tap clocking ring holes
seal 231
make d300 flip kit

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Well my rig was in no form of limp mode. it was dead. Is it possible the CPS could make it go straight to dead or no way at all would it do that?

How much you want for a CPS and coil?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

for the CPS, check the resistance with a multimeter across B and C. The reading should be open, meaning "0"...if it shows a low resistance it needs to get replaced

Travis, that has to be the most intelligent and genuinely helpful post you have ever made.

thanks. Will check tomorrow. Now I will down a few drinks and go to sleep.

edit: Damn i guess this means I gotta go to teh storage unit and dig through boxes for my multimeter tomorrow. About time I did that anyway, esp since I need it soon.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have a new source of technical information ;)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

TCrank position sensor will leave you dead in the water, cam position sensor will put you in limp mode iirc. Aren't dual meaning acronyms awesome?

Another thing... did the rpm gauge drop instantly to 0 or did the engine stop running and rpms followed it down to 0? Instant drop to 0 while still in gear and decelerating points strongly to losing ecu, ecu power, or cps, since the tach signal is generated via the cps and ecu.
