I am looking for an offset tie rod end for a one ton over knuckle steering system. Need 7/8-18 Left Hand threads, GM taper, and offset such that the offset will move the rod forward, and this is for the passenger side knuckle. All I can find in this thread (left hand) is an offset that will move the rod backwards, we need to move the rod forward. Any suggestions? We have looked all over the web for this, and no luck.

Just like this part BUT in LEFTHAND thread, this one has the correct direction offset, but is the wrong handed thread for our need...

Thanks

Ebay:

I prefer to use what Ruff Stuff sells. I don't think I have time to look at home this weekend. LS motor going together.

Why do you need LH thread? I have only ever seen that particular offset in RH threads.

I'm assuming your driver side is RH thread then. Can you flip the orientation of the tie rod... ie put the RH threads on passenger side and the LH thread on driver side? Assuming you are trying to clear the diff cover and/or sway bar link mount, just buy both offset ends (OS2234L/OS2234R) to move the whole tie rod further forward instead of only moving the passenger side foreword.

If you have a separated tie rod an drag link you can do this. If you have a T/Y-Link I think you are kinda screwed.

Black1990 posted for me. I’m installing a stinkyfab WJ OTK conversion and the drag link bar won’t clear the sway bar using the supplied tabs. So, we thought we could keep the sway bar in the stock location but the drag bar needs to be moved forward hence the request for info on the part. Additional if we found a left hand threaded drag link at the pitman arm we could make it work. We’re also considering a WJ pitman arm that is about 3/4” longer. This probably won’t help clearance, but may provide full stop to stop with the steering.

Yea the LH drag link end is the key. Use ES2027L at the pitman arm and OS2234R (link in first post) at the knuckle. This is the setup I run, along with both TREs being offset.

Also looking at your pic, still not sure if that will clear even with the offset. If you move the drag link backwards, looks like it would have a better chance clearing between the coil and sway bar link

I had to use one on my '00 XJ. I think the passenger side. I did use SFR OTK brackets. I didn't have this issue with my '98. I did have issues with some TREs I purchased off of EBay. The rubber cracked after a year. I did not have that issue with the ones I purchased off of E-Bay.

Did you make you own otk setup or use a kit?

I saw ES2027L. It is about 2” shorter than the ES2026, so I was not sure if that would work. I’ll give it a go along with the OS2234R.

Could you share a pic or two of your setup?

Originally it was one of those cheap Barnes weld your own kit. I have since replaced both the drag link and tie rod with solid aluminum from Summit Machine, and had to change to offset ends. I found the Barnes ones would flex and permanently bend too much off road. Now they are my wheeling spares. I do have an aftermarket axle and the sway bar link mounts are much different looking than yours. Mine stick straight up instead of forward. You might have to shorten that mount as well as buy the offset TRE.

I have no trouble with tierod ends missing or having ripped boots. Seems tierod ends atleast mine are cool being naked.

This is a good thread though i have no idea wich direction the OP is going
