THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

1.sheet metal, lots of new sheetmetal(or just start with new shell)
2.traction bar, traction bars kill axle wrap
3. just do yur floors and get the 3 link done
4.budget, sell the vdub and buy a towrig
^ This.
either find a nice shell to build on or just start over with a juggy. just keep the firewall and drivetrain and add alot of tube
Honestly, if I were to go back 3 years I'd probably start over with no XJ at all. Pull the drivetrain and start with nothing but some chalk, a protractor, level, a bender, and tube.
Don't get me wrong, I love how mine turned out. It was just a lot of work working around the dumb unibody.
16' 1974 Browning tri-hull
Awesome, I love tri-hulls.

Having never done this, I'd agree... the number of times I considered chopping the back off my 96 while trying to de-rustify it in May was significant. Problem was, every time I thought about it, and looked at where I'd be cutting it, I kept seeing no reason to not move further and further forward till it ended up being a dashboard and front clip, at which point it seems stupid to bother grafting tube and unibody together at all.

So instead I decided I'd do a fairly decent job of half-assing my unibody back together, beat on it till it breaks, and switch to a new body. That's when I decided to buy the 98 off bump even though I had no idea where I'd be parking it... this problem seems to have resolved itself.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

whatever - i'm going to work with what i've got and in the end it will be awesome. the idea of starting with nothing but a driveline and tube is quite appealing. if i were to do that, it would get a lot cooler parts than just a I6 4.0 and ax-15.

its alot easier to hang cherokee skins on tube. the only reason i wanna keep black jeep a full-bodied rig is because if it wasnt, id jsut start from scratch too.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't understand rockauto's shipping calculator at all, it's costing me $8 to have a muffler shipped and $16 to have two swaybar end links shipped. WTF?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

today im gettin poly trans mounts and sway bar endlinks via ups for the dd(i should of gone with poly end links but whatever) and some brown dog mm's for the dd, i guess i can toss them in this weekend too

Might show up, might not, I have something planned this weekend and completely forget what it is, and my brother invited me to go shooting in manchester on Saturday.

Speaking of which... my brother invited me to go shooting on Saturday, it'll be at a range (probably The Firing Line.) Anyone want in?

(yes, it will cost a lot compared with going out in the woods etc)

Oh, and NO whistler tips :moon::lecture::spin1:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'd ditch shooting and a military vehicles event for fireworks and drunk chicks too.

Though the best combination would be fireworks, drunk chicks, and shooting, in military vehicles.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Fire up a fan and keep working!

I will work on the jeep in any weather... anywhere I can do so without getting evicted.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm small but I don't deal with hot well. I need to do a couple of side jobs to make some cash and have someone insulate my garage. once it's insulated I have a window AC and a pellet stove to go in. Then I wont leave the garage ever.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, heat really pisses me off. I still work in it though... gotta do what you gotta do.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It is quite hot out. I think it's about time to go change the gear oil but part of me wants to wait and work at night once it cools down a bit. But I just finished the motorcycle, $35 and a few hours worth of driving/fixing and I got 3 new keys

Man taking a wed off feels weird.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

head north, go past the white mountains, keep going for at least a half hour and i'm sure there's lots up there.

correct!,but I'm looking more around the white mountain area, and also not set up for backcountry camping.
I'm probably going back to Tripoli Rd but I'm interested in seeing what else is out there,as far as dispersed camping goes. Not really a big fan of campgrounds.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Fawk. The 9" has no drain plug so I either have to get a pump and pump the fluid out through the filler hole or pull the shafts and pull the whole 3rd member.

What a PITA. I really don't want to deal with pulling the axle shafts and the whole 3rd but at the same time I don't think I could get all the metal crap out if I used a pump since I wouldn't be able to get ALL the fluid out that way. :smsoap:
