Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I built a dope shelf / lights in my new garage today and started to organize it. its got a little corner thats its own little closet that i managed to shoehorn my compressor in, that used to be where the P.O. kept his dental gases. Now I just have to get more lights, run an airline or two, and get shit together more!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I apparently managed to rest my forearm on something I had recently welded without even noticing.

I *think* my floors are now more intact than they were when I broke out the angle grinder (and the edges are cleaner for sure), though that is not saying much.

i went to go pick up a screwdriver once and half the handle was melted on a piece of metal.

i was upset

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, my worst was when I started my gas line on fire.

Thank god A) I covered it in duck tape to prevent too much gas leak and (in my head) to protect the line at least a LITTLE bit and B) I was keeping the possibility of it catching fire in mind when welding the cargo area and kept taking a look down through the hole in the floor after every weld.

Then I made the dumb mistake of putting said fire out by grabbing with my welding glove on... which had a huge hole in it so I pretty much put it out with my bare hand. :doh:x2. Granted I would do that again in a heartbeat to put out a fire rather than burn something that won't heal... but it still hurt for a couple weeks.

And tomorrow I think I should get my a key made up for my bike, go for a ride, then finish my front bumper tie-ins and cut the 4x4x0.25" angle that I bought into 2 pieces of 4"x0.25" flat for rear tie-ins. Can't decide between using angle grinder, sawzall, and the torch

Can I smear rtv on wires? I added a splice after my harness was done and obviously can't use heatshrink.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sure, its not the best stuff for the job but it'll work fine.

I retrieved my metal for the mj bumper reinforcement/receiver brackets from storage... The second I'm done with my floors, it's time to get that project done and checked off.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

They actually make this stuff called "liquid electrical tape" that is pretty much heavily rubberized paint in a can with a brush applicator lid.

Rtv is fine though  if you have any electrical grade silicone I'd use that, but for 12 volts just about anything goes really.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

you cutoff the bottoms, cut out the back area, fold inside piece up, fold outside piece up, weld folded pieces together, weld edges together, slightly modify little gas fller line protector thingy, DONE.

heres there write-up you were looking for, somewhere in there is pics of mine too.
