Team NAXJA/Petty Cash Racing stock class KOH XJ build

Egad!

Did someone have to change their shorts?

Are those the cast plates that came from HF?

I ask because I have toyed with getting a pair of these: http://www.swagoffroad.com/ARBOR-PRESS-PLATES_p_7.html

no, but my heart may have stopped
yes, they are

we have some plates on their way from another race team (poor boys racing) who had some made local to them, and did a set for us.

it was pretty spectacular. the plates. the bearing. everything shattered.

the press is upstairs on the mezzanine, and a LOT of things jumped and made noise when it went. sounded like a train wreck.

In the rear we changed things up a bit. We have run Ford 8.8 brakes, but after talking with Blaine a bit, we swapped pads and calipers for a 2000-2004 Jeep Wrangler with discs (Rubicon) in. The caliper is roughly the same size and bolts right into the 8.8 backing plate, but the pad is about 50% bigger. Centric premium rotors, stoptech calipers and black magic pads here, too.

You mentioned Rubi, but would it just be any TJ with rear (I'm assuming) disc brakes?

No issues with offset, just a bolt right in and go?You mentioned Rubi, but would it just be any TJ with rear (I'm assuming) disc brakes?

Probably yes on any TJ with discs.

And yes. Just need calipers and pads. Bolted right in. And calipers only because the ID of the piston is different, so you need to change it for the pad to clip into it correctly.

I've got plates if you need some. Let me know I'll swing by with them.

Man this thread has me looking at flights to Ontario to come see the race

I've been out to KOH about a half a dozen times or so.

I'm not sure it's something I'll go out for again anytime soon to be honest.

If you're a racer, support crew, etc...it can be great fun.

These days, the spectators are so removed from much of viewing the race, it's actually FAR FAR better viewing at home through the live stream. The most action you'll see, is being along somewhere like Chocolate Thunder with 10 minutes of action between looooong wait periods.

Also, if it isn't tied down, locked up, etc...don't be surprised if it grows legs and walks away.

Don't get me wrong, it's still fun to go out, but don't go out for the race itself, more for meeting/seeing people, partying, etc.

I used to love to be right at the starting line at 7:30, last time I went, I didn't even bother getting there until they were half way through release.

It was a whole different game in 2007-8ish. I'll never forget standing on Jack Hammer (I think it was Jack Hammer) watching Shannon drive over Casey Currie :D

I plan on being out at the Hammers again sooner than later with the buggy, but not anywhere near KOH

Its funny you say that.

We leave someone with a laptop and a 4G card to watch the live stream and tell us how we're doing on the course.. it gets better info than we do.
