I've been out to KOH about a half a dozen times or so.
I'm not sure it's something I'll go out for again anytime soon to be honest.
If you're a racer, support crew, etc...it can be great fun.
These days, the spectators are so removed from much of viewing the race, it's actually FAR FAR better viewing at home through the live stream. The most action you'll see, is being along somewhere like Chocolate Thunder with 10 minutes of action between looooong wait periods.
Also, if it isn't tied down, locked up, etc...don't be surprised if it grows legs and walks away.
Don't get me wrong, it's still fun to go out, but don't go out for the race itself, more for meeting/seeing people, partying, etc.
I used to love to be right at the starting line at 7:30, last time I went, I didn't even bother getting there until they were half way through release.
It was a whole different game in 2007-8ish. I'll never forget standing on Jack Hammer (I think it was Jack Hammer) watching Shannon drive over Casey Currie
I plan on being out at the Hammers again sooner than later with the buggy, but not anywhere near KOH
