Any interest in something like this? These are kind of the ugly stepkids of tech threads- I'm sure the mods would like another subforum to patrol, but they are common topics/problems for a lot of folks. Does anyone think it worthy of a dedicated area?

What is theis JF? :D Its not a bad Idea. If the West coast+3 other go fast XJ guys can have the JS/prerunner forum an Electronics sub-forum would be cool!

I had a forum user PM me the other day and ask for a sub-forum for after market electronics; I.E. GPS, stereo, Ipods, CBs, etc. I think it's an idea that has merit, BUT:

The question is, where do you draw the line for sub-forums?

Well of course we cant have subforums for every little topic we would like to nitpick. Take the JeepSpeed forum for example. It has a lot of interesting tech pertaining to XJs in general, and it also has a lot of stuff that is specific to JS.
So if we had an electronics sub forums, then perhaps most of it would be helpful to XJs in general (stereo, gps, CB etc.) and there would also be some stuff that doesnt have to do with XJs, but just electronics (think computer help threads)

Also I would like to point out the political discussion sub forum. Lots of posts go to that sub forum, mainly from people who like discussing politics. If we had an electronics sub forum, then that would give us techies a place to talk and discuss the latest gadgets and gizmos and provide support for fellow forum members when we break said items. :D

So yes, I do agree. We must draw the line for sub forums somewhere, but I feel that electronics have such a following on this forum that they deserve it.

Haha, yes. Is that the real reason everyone goes red? To have access to high quality sex toy and related paraphernalia sub forums??
:dunno:

Of course, what did you think was in the den? :D

That's not the reason I went red. This place has saved me probably 10 times what I've paid in membership dues since I've been here. THAT is why I am red. The Den is just an added bonus.

x2 I have utilized the info on here more than 10 times probably. So worth it. Definitely going red as soon as I can scrape up some spare cash.

When I started reading this thread, the only thought that crossed my mind was vehicle related electronics, and I supported it. I'm interested in those types of things and would cruise that subforum from time to time if it came to be.

However, if it became a "computer help" tech support subforum, I'd stay the heck away from it. I hate reading that stuff, even when I'm the one that needs help. :speepin: So far as I see it, that's what Google is for. There are tons of sites out there dedicated to computer tech questions. I can never quite understand why people ask computer tech questions on a 4-wheeling site in the first place, even in off-topic. Surely there are better audiences out there to pose tech questions to...?

There is alot of smart people on NAXJA. Be it jeep or pc or gardening, someone will have most likely have an answer to your question.

I like the idea of an Jeep electronics sub forum aswell.

So who do I start harassing with PMs to make this happen?

No one... to be honest your opinion carries no weight as a forum user. However, since this topic was brought up by a forum supporter, I will bring it up the club BOD. I do think we have enough sub-forums already though and don't need one specifically for electronics.
