Special Event / Classes

Special events for members in good standing. We are going to set up some classes. First aid, vehicle recovery, and other "skills" classes through out the year.

This idea has been more popular than some others See Class suggestions for topics.

I really liked the idea from Holgram to charge non-members to attend. Especially if we have demonstrations setup. We could use some of the money to help those leading the class maybe pay for gas or any supplies. Vehicle recovery could be a class with demonstrations: anchoring a vehicle, attachment points, protecting the line, safety weight on line...


We could have small/quick topic classes open to all as a teaser to draw more attendance to the large classes. This might be a display/demonstration/discussion at a meet&greet or trail ride.

I provided the opportunity for such a class on poison spider on day. How to straighten a bent tie rod. It would included a few items to remember like:
- Counting the turn to take it off so you get it close to original when you put it back on.
- Why get a jack with a removable handle.
Also possible ways to straighten the rod such a a jack or a winch.

I really like the idea of a vehicle recovery class. I think we could do it at my place using the hill down in the park. Also the old pond that's now empty. I agree with you about Seths idea of charging non memebers.

I agree with charging non-members that way they are not totally excluded.

What do you think about trading training for membership?

Maybe we could cover part of a membership from the fees for professional training. Or cover half a 2 year membership. That way we can get next years training for free.

Hologram is willing to do CPR training. It would save most people $20.
We could charge non-member $5 or $10 and members free.

I'm not sure it will be nessesary to have a vote. There really isn't that many ideas that are feasable. I think a first-aid/CPR class is a must do if Seth is willing. I think the vehicle recovery is also a must do. As far as the rest of the ideas...Tom Woods shop, a welding class, things like this we can just pick a couple and run. People will be happy either way.
