...sorry...another build thread...

So if the MC supposed to seal to the brake booster ? the 96 junkyard booster and reman 78 grand marquis master combo has horrible breaks. I have verified the MC is holding pressure, and also tested the booster and verified its not working. I feel like there is a slight gap between the booster and master. brakes are horrible. I might just put the WJ setup back on. Anyway, For shits and giggles I RTVed the MC and the booster where they seal to see if that helps and ill check it tomorrow.

wilwood prop valve and electric line lock:

longer push rod for the booster to MC :

I'm getting rid of the disco 3 piece shaft and dont want to deal with an inner seal so I am doing an outer seal only on the pass side. quick and dirty.

emphasis on the dirty.

I foresee you having gear oil out that seal within a day. those things don't work.

Grabbing some cheap used wrangler duratracs for the MJ I think. Ive read these tires don't have great sidewalls. any one on here run them and actually wheel them? More than likely will just be a temporary tire at this price.

Fixed brakes:
Huge relief.
So the booster issue is resolved. The RTV sealed the master to the booster, must have sealed a vacuum leak. I did not know the booster had to seal to the master, but it does, and it will result in no power brakes if they don't seal. Now there are brakes and it brake really really well. The rear brake lights are stuck on so I need to remove it all to grind down the booster. Or maybe ill just use my dremel . Hmm.

Also, grabbed (3) 33x12.5x15 Duratracs for 150$. Im trying to get some 15x8 black steelies with 3.75-4" Back spacing for 100$ or less (have a line on a set of 4 right now) and then ill snag one more duratrac and ill be on my way to some cheap 33s and rims . selling the stock tires might just cover the cost of the 4th tire. further down the road ill go to a better tire...

Jon, who is the pirate vendor on the tires? I paid $960 for 4 MTRs (No rims) out the door with the warranty from 4wp. I need to get them mounted still and everything... Might be worth it to return the tires and go through the pirate vendor?

One of the tire vendors. Just pm them all and see who gives the best price.

Got this guy now. Fixed some ground wite issues , swapped out the IAC, replaced the 22.5 lb injectors with 19lb stockers and adjusted the tps and some other odds and ends. Patrick already did the o2 sensor and cat coverter and exhaust manifold gasket along with plugs and plug wires and cap and rotor. It passed smog today.

Well it was Pats.

The rear has a LSD. anyone know where to source clutch packs for a factory dana 44 LSD?

Tore apart the steering wheel all 4 bolts that hold thr thing together in tje middle were backed out . Super sketchy to drive .

SO the master craft nomad seat I have is tiny. I am 6'1 and 220 and it simply doesn't even come close to fitting me. Its got a 31" back, which is actually common, but the submarine belt is also about 2" further in than the corbreau seat I have.

The corbreau is also way short. Its also a pain in the butt to get into a suspension seat coming in through the XJ doorway when the sides/arms stick up so high as they do on the corbreau.

I am going to put the master craft nomad as the passenger side seat , and I will probably be ordering a Daily driver PRP seat (33" back) and then add the +4" taller option( I need 38-39" tall seat really so maybe they can go custom and go taller?) . The corbreau will be going in the back as an eventual third seat after serious floor modifications.

And Ill be adding the +2" wider option as well. the only problem is in the pictures I don't see a slot for the submarine belt so I am going to call and see what that is about and if I can add one if it doesn't have one.

Richard and I both run prp comp high back +4.

I 6'2" 220 and he is about the same size. They fit us perfect.

Both sets were special order.

This is great information. Exactly what I was looking for. So you are about 39" total since the comp seats are at 35" to start +4.

I was looking at the comp ones today since they are 35 and the +4 would put it to 39" which 38-39" is about perfect for me.

Did you also get the width +2 or just regular width ?

Ill be calling PRP this week to order one and ill probably be putting the corbreau or the nomad as a passenger seat.

Made a seat base for the corbreau seat , I will be tying the seats in the cage once I buy some DOM, But I just needed to get a seat in for now. Drove the crap pile around town tonight and I could tell instantly the rear brakes were not locking up.

paid 2.19 for gas, here is the seat in the dark, crappy pics.

So I've got the thing total emptied along with dropping the front end down about 3" so its a super stink bug for now. It will drop 1-2" with all of the gear and the spare on the back, and I am also going to raise the rear shackle mount about an inch or so so it will drop at least 1/2" from that.

thing is empty right now.

I only took it up to about 45mph but it was driving fine and braking fine as I ran errands tonight.

I had to cut the driver side B pillar out. I am going to need to relocate it about 6" back. so Ill need to add another spreader as well, and then it will a shoulder height cross bar the harnesses and then ill "X" it for triangulation.

Are you in a hurry to get seats? I'll be moving the team naxja car to the bay area at the end of the month, you could run down and check fitment, make sure you get what you want.

IIRC are seats are not extra wide, they are a pretty tight squeeze.. but I've been strapped in for 12+ hours at a time without them getting uncomfortable.

Harnesses make a big effect there. Don't buy crappy harnesses. Ours cost more than our seats do.. (but there are good cheaper ones available).

I think I might take you up on this one that would be ideal so I don't end up with 3 suspension seats that don't fit me...

I have a Crow harness with shoulder pads and a sternum latch, 2" wide , to try out. I am planning on getting a 3" harness to try it out too and what doesn't fit me will go on the passenger side or in the eventual back seat .

What harnesses do you run in the team NAXJA?

We run Hooker Harnesses. They are an Aerobatic harness, not built as an offroad harness, but are the highest quality harness available. They are one of only two 2" harnesses legal for Ultra4.

The latches are forged and sanded smooth, for easy unlock in an emergency.

The shoulder/submarine adjusters are much higher quality than the competitors. They are very easy to tighten or loosen, but they *never* slip. Set them and forget them.

Hooker-Belts.gif

The lap belt tightens down with a 1/4" drive ratchet. They get more snug than other belts do, and the *STAY*. There is no possible way for them to get loose during use the way cam buckle belts do.

If you strap into 4643, even if you never start the engine, you'll be trying to figure out where to order these at..

We don't run a sternum strap. A lot of people seem to think they can lead to more harm than good, and really, we've never identified a need for one.
