...sorry...another build thread...

I keep telling everyone it doesn't look that bad. Ive only found one broken weld, - on the rear bumper side slider thing, but It looks it took a very hard implact from the looks of things.

I need to do a work party to help dial this thing in, adjust the doors, remove the windshield, clean it out, throw on shorter coils, harness seats, and some more

I need someone to school me on 5 point harness stuff and suspension seats, whats good, whats bad, whats good and less expensive, and whats totally awesome?

I wonder if I could make a 5 point harness work with these front buckets with some mods to the things.

looking at corbeau, PRP for seats, and all over for harnesses?

Hmm I might scratch this idea. Ive been reading a lot of threads on pirate about how they are not DOT legal and some other issues. Now I might just stick with what I have .

I know you said you are going to skip it, but I love my 5 point harnesses. I have never had any issue with the cops although I haven't been pulled over with them on. When I did my rocker replacments I cut the body high enough that the lower stock outboard seat belt mounts were cut off.

I run Master Craft Rubicon seats with Crow 5 point harnesses. I prefer the 3" wide lap belts with the 2" wide shoulder harnesses with the sewn on pads. The 3" wide shoulder harnesses cut into my neck, not much fun for a whole day on the trail. The 2" wide anti-sub belt is a no brainer. It is almost impossible to get your harness fully tightened without the 5th belt.

EDIT: I have the latch style but would prefer the cam lock style. After using them for a day in a buddies rig I think thay are the way to go for sure. The latch style takes some coordination and patience to get locked in.

My seats are hard mounted due to me being so tall that with the adjusters I was hitting my head on the roof. Just something to think about. Nobody really drives my rig but me so it is no big deal to not have them adjustable.

I got my seats brand new on ebay for less than half of what they would retail for a few years ago. I just recently saw a nice set of Beard racing seats on CL for around $400.

Hey Bryan,

Thanks for the input. I am not off the suspension seat wagon yet, just researching like crazy. I am off this week from work and have too much free time...

ill keep searching around for a good price. I appreciate your input, I was reading that pirate 4x45 thread on crow harnesses. I do like the safety aspect of the harness and seat combo. its a tough call.

It is my understanding that Mastercraft and PRP are the best. THey make nice reclining seats.

I am looking at the mastercraft rubicons right now and various harnesses

Hey Jon, wanna donate your seats to me when you get some new ones? haha.
Good luck.

I paid 300$ front and rear total for mine from a zj guy. Im gonna try to get like 200$ for them all which is practically a donation. The mastercraft rubicons are 300$ each and 450$ each if you them to adjust !

Actwully the plan is to start with just one seat and gut the seats out sell them and put that towards a second. Then it will be a 2 seater until i can grab some suspension buckets for the back seat or maybe leave it a 2 seater. I am leaning towards the black and red adjustable mastercraft rubicons

I like that idea turbo brick. Did you make your own nounts ? I could start with one if those only. Then migrate to a adjustable rubicon seat for the driver over time and migrate this one to the passenger and it can eventually end up as a back seat when i get the passenger a better seat. Ill probably order one .

Dang Jon, just happened to come across your thread.
Glad to see your ok. Looks like your tube and welding saved your butt.

My XJ started with power seats, so I bought the Corbeau direct fit sliders. I had some Amazon gift cards to burn, otherwise I would have found a manual seat XJ in the junk yard and take it's mounts and sliders. It takes a little work to get the Mastercrafts mounted to the stock sliders or the Corbeaus, but it's not too tough. With the Rubicons, my seats initially ended up a little tall, so the fabricator shortened the Corbeau mounts a little. I'm really happy with how it all came out.

I have some brand new Mastercraft sliders I could let you have for $40.

Letterman I might take you up on that. With those I would still need to fabricate some sort of seat mounts, correct? or do they mount to the floor like that?
