Caught this off the coast from my friends boat last Friday. 4 1/4 lbs calico bass. Caught on a 9 wt. throwing a 400 grain line with a 7" baitfish pattern.

You'd have guessed right about my Korean decent. I was just playing around with Sequoia. Those bass take 7 years to grow just 1 pound so that puts that fish at about 30 years old or so. I released him after a few pics were taken even though they are tasty.

Not long cause we were using 15 lbs test leader. If you don't stop these fish before they pull you into the rocks/kelp they'll break you off.

are you by chance heading towards twin lakes/ bridgeport or utica / union reservoirs? there seems to be great trout waters there.
