i work for the FORD dealer in Homewood

So how many mechanics shown up in the last few months looking for jobs cause Ford is the only Domestic company not getting shut down? I know alot of dealers in the area ie: South holland, east chicago, lansing are closing down. Chevy, Dodge, Jeep, Pontiac, Olds, Buick. Where i work is one of them, but we at least got some warning before we get the axe.

im not sure, i know we arnt going to hire any one any time thise guys are fighting over some work (yet still complain when they have to change oil)

what company did you work for that got shut down i didnt think too many were closing out there

Gibson Chevy in So. Ho. we got the letter saying our contract is not being renewed next year, but as soon as our new car inventory is gone, we can no longer operate under "Chevrolet" . but we are still doing excellent business cause everyone who wants to buy a car is looking for that "great" deal. i'm looking to get outta the auto mechanic industry altogether, but not sure what to move into next.

I seen a Purple colored XJ the other day looked to be on 3" and 31's, 97-01 era. anyone around here?

I would hold off on getting out just yet? The auto repair industry is thriving lateley as people are keeping vehicles longer and hence require more maintenance. Heck, my boss/owner has been thinking about adding another tech.

We never really dealt with Gibson, but it sucks that there going down, i know that Steve peters is now village of homewood Chevy they got bought out buy the city
maybe schepel will need more guys, i dont think there going down any time soon, is that one in highland still open?

did that purple XJ have the ICON wheels on it? if so i think i have seen it around

Didnt really get a good look at what kind of wheels were on the purple XJ, they were aftermarket wheels though, I seen it on rt. 41 in highland,IN near the new Gino's.

Yeah Ridgeway has been open for about 83 years and Gibson about 50 years. Peters was open for what 10-15 years max, even under the old name? Its a load of crap. As for getting outta the auto industry, I will always work on cars, maybe not in a dealership, at home perhaps. But theres just not the kinda money there used to be in it. Especially with all the rediculous electronic BS now.

dude, doorless its like 55* and about to rain, better pull that thing in the shop or you will have a wet ass on the way home.
i went out to river oaks ford today and drove down that frontage road your on, i was thinking of stopping and saying hi but it was close to lunch and i was getting hungry

yeah, you see me parked on the side of the shop?! i was kinda nervous about the rain, but it just drizzled by the time i left. so i didnt get that wet, more wet from the spray of the offset rims and tires than what was coming down.

you should've stopped, although at 12-1 i am on lunch though, so i might have been upstairs. but next time feel free to. the side i was parked on is the side i work on. just inside the door. my Name is Phil by the way.

yea, i was thinking of stoping but i go to lunch at 12 also and it was about 11:30/45ish and i wanted to get back and go to lunch, im in parts over there so they send me out quite a bit since i used to just drive then made it to the counter and they never hired anyone so were down to just one other driver, if im out that way ill stop by next time

We should change the name of this thread to "Who has been seen by Rewster and Philagony?" :D

or the Rewster and Philagony show

Hey I cant help it I have a very good keen sense of observation! :)

We can call it the "RaP" show!

I do keep seeing this really clean Burnt orange XJ in Dyer alot, but when i wave at the guy he blows me off. It has about a 2" lift and 31's and a CB antenna on the roof. Looks like he might wheel it. But if its that clean i would guess not.

Change it to "get a room already" thread.
:D

BOB

LOL......

So back to what this thread is "really" about, I saw a Black 97-01 XJ on about 5"-6" lift and 31's maybe 32's and it had a snorkel with Illinois plates. It was at the Baskin Robins/Dunkin Donuts in Calumet City on Rt. 6 (159th st.) at about 5 pm today. Anyone here? If so speak up.......nice rig by the way!

Fishers: Big Blue XJ. Soft 8s. 4 to 6 inch lift maybe?? Big meaty tires.Bumpers on both ends. CB whip. I waved to you but got nothing in return :( Then i saw you buying fireworks but i didnt say anything...
