2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ Hood Vents

Hello,
I’m new to the site. And have questions. Please reply. My 2000 Jeep XJ runs a bit to warm in warmer weather. For instance, if I shut the engine down, the 4.0 engine goes into “Heat Sink” even though I have insulators on my fuel lines, injectors, and intake manifold shield.
I did put on a 3 minute run time relay, that I flip flip the switch to operate the stock electric fan motor, this step helps. That said, I have seen XJ’s with hood vents.
So what are the vents, y’all are finding the easiest to do a DYI installation with.
Heck maybe someone near me has a spare vented hood in their stock pile of goodies.
I’m also looking for someone that can change wheel centers. Or has 4,15” wheels with a 4.5” bolt pattern, that are bead locks.
Thanking you in advance,
Mikey, 2000 XJ sport 4.0 Automatic 4X4, with a 2” lift.

I don't think you can get Napier hood vents anymore.

Biggest challenge is probably going to be figuring out what is even available anymore. '98 ZJ vents are a nice option because they come with the drip trays on the bottom, but those aren't exactly readily found in the junkyard, even less so now than 10 years ago.

Most of the hood vents mentioned in older threads were chosen because they were cheap at the junkyard, and nobody made aftermarket hood vents.

Since hood vents have become so popular on Wranglers, there are numerous brands and configurations for generic hood vents.

I have Pontiac Sunbird turbo vents on my 2000 and never needed any drain pans underneath. Engine temps are about 5* lower than before, and hot start issues occur much less often.

Hey there, fellow Utahn!
I'm running a pair of Genright Hood Vents on my 2000 and they definitely help evacuate the heat from under the hood. Installation writeup here: XJ Buildup III-Hood Vent install

I have hood vents on my 94. 4.0l here in the UK. They were from a later model Jeep Cherokee called the Orvis.
They came with drip trays though I do not have those fitted, just the vents only.
Being OEM Jeep parts you may find some in The USA, as new old stock. Just a thought and they are official Jeep equipment. Good luck. Qgri

I'm in AZ. I go wheeling with AC on in 115 degree heat in my XJ. I got the aluminum triangle hood vents off Amazon. I also have the k fab hood lift spacers. The k fab overhauled injectors solved my heat soak issues. Stock radiator and fans. Just don't shut it off on the trail. Lol.
