OK, I just went thorugh that other long thread and I got lost about halfway through. In any case it looks like we will have people show up at Loon Lake Camp on Thurs eve and on Fri Morning and catch up someplace on the trail. For Fri the meeting spot will be the Icehouse and the time will be 9am.

Thanks for starting this poll, it has been getting pretty confusing where the meet is going to be with so many people coming. Where is the Icehouse on Icehouse Rd? Is it close to the Loon Lake turnoff off of Icehouse rd? I think meeting at 9 a.m. will work better for me as I can sleep in my nice bed at home and leave early from home to meet you guys at 9 a.m. I have a temperpedic bed you know. :looser: I know it's plush, but my wife wanted it and I love the thing. I don't have many camping supplies so if I can camp 1 less day than that would be great. I would be up to the Fordyce trail on Sunday as well if everything goes well and we make good time without many breakdowns etc. Fordyce is really nice and on our way back west anyhow so why not. We could always go into it and come right back out if we need to. Lee "Crazy for Mopar" just posted pics of him crossing the river this weekend, so we should be able to in mid June, it should be easier then anyways. Look forward to meeting all you guys.

Do you think that Fordyce Creek water level is controlled by nature?

It is not. It is operated for hydropower production in a peaking capacity. Flows can be 1400 cfs in the morning jump to 250 at noon, and then go back down to 100 at night. In fact, flows are usually the highest in Fordyce Creek in September, when the lower Sierra lakes have been depleted and PGE is relying on high mountain lakes like Buck Island, Loon, and Fordyce for power production.

If you ever get stuck on Fordyce because of high water, just wait it out till morning, as that is when flows are usually lowest.

Looks like 8 at this point (I don't see Mike's vote, but I know he's coming)

I could meet up with you guys Thursday evening/night if you are all meeting then, I don't want to hold anything up. I'm happy we have such a good group at this point. Let's have some fun. If we do finish early we can run all or part of Fordyce trail if people want to. It wouldn't be out of our way to get to that trail. I need to still get some camping gear. Where would guys suggest for a good price, Walmart/Sam's Club or is that just cheap crap?

I was in Wallyworld couple days ago and saw a pretty big tent for $40 or so.....
If you could make it to the campground that'd be cool :D That way we all start from the same spot since it appears everyone else plans to camp.

Thanks, I'll have to check out my local Walllmaartt. It's funny how the locals in small towns seem to congregate at their Walmart. I feel like saying, get a life man, and stop making kids. :confused1 I'm just kidding, country life is different from city lift I guess. My family moved to the country from the Chicago burbs and now live about 2 hrs out of Chicago in the sticks, it's too quiet and boring for me. Sacramento/Bay Area is more my speed with the Sierra Nevada and Coast, etc calling me. There is so much to see in this state, I don't know if I want to go North, South, East, or West from Sac, any direction has plenty to take in.

Speaking of the devil :D Anyways, I just sent an email to you, Rabbit and Dan about meeting spot for the caravan.

My wife is debating whether to come with me or not. She wants to know what "facilities" she can expect on the Con? I told her not to expect much. Does anyone know if there are outhouses, etc along the way or will she just have to rough it? Also, what food are people bringing? I don't know what to bring. I have a cooler, but don't know what will hold up? Do you guys use regular or dry ice? Are you bringing hot dogs, burgers etc to grill up? Are there any grills at the campsites or do you guys bring a little grill with charcoal? Just wondering what to expect. I don't just want to eat my granola bars. I eat them almost every weekday for breakfast. :helpme:

I haven't been there but I'd guess that you'd better err on the safe side and tell her that the facilities involve a "bush" or area with trees :D

The only outhouses are at Rubicon Springs.

Everywhere else, the bathrooms are where you find them.

Do you have camping supplies? If so, I would consider bringing those. You know, camp stove, sleeping bag, tent, lantern.....

Oh, mosquito spray and lots and lots of beer.
