I'm of the opinion JV is the wrong place for the SCXJ Jambo, and am taking my friends wheeling somewhere else that weekend. :)

Opinions are like a**holes, everyones got one, and they all stink.

Like Goat said, there are trails for everyone there. You just have to know where to take people.

Looks like I'm out for Goatfest. Work wants me on the east coast.

My XJ may show without me though. :/

Just leave the keys on the floorboards, my dad needs something to wheel. :)

I'm fairly sure I'm in with the girlfriend as well.

Is this area tent-camping friendly? Or will my life suck if I take a tent?

You'll be in the middle of a dry lakebed. The winds can come up, and it can get hot or cold. You can most likely figure out the prevailing wind and pitch a tent behind a heep or RV. Bring a good sleeping bag as it can dip into the 30's or lower at night.

I think I have that on video.

Ditto.

Plenty tent camp, just be prepared for virtually any weather. Bring good tent stakes, and preferebly some cord to further tie down the tent if the wind really comes up.

Cool, thanks. I tented at Pismo so I figure I can do it here too. I've got a good bag as well.

How do I get to the dry lake? I've got a general/sort of idea of where JV is.

Johnson Valley is really big. This is at the WAY South East end! I have spent years in the area just East of Lucerne and was shocked the first time I went to hammers a year ago. I kept driving and driving and driving and driving :=)

I always bring a tent with me to the lakebed.

And always get lazy at the last minute at night, usually a little drunk, and toss my stuff out of the Jeep and sleep in the cargo area.

Never fails. Maybe I'll actually plan to do that this year. :D

You have more excuses to miss events than anyone I know.
At least I use the same excuse each time!

;)
