Project: Hamburger Train

Did you try throwing both of them in the trash? Might help.

Go to parts store, get dizzy rotor for 94 4.0l. Find dizzy that fits that rotor.

Looks like parts switched in 94, could be a mid year change. So could have an older style, or could have the other? As long as you have the right cap/rotor for that particular dizzy and the cam position sensor plug is the same it shouldn't matter I would think.

Speaks the truth.

Dizzy doesn't really matter (dunno if RENIX ones are different), get cap/rotor that fit the year of the distributor, get a cam pos sensor (the black disc with the 3 pin connector and cable that goes under the rotor) for the year of the jeep. Or just reuse yours if it's still there.

see what I mean

The top one looks like a Renix distributor. Underneath that metal piece you should find the camshaft position sensor, a hall-effect sensor. You will also see that the sensor can be clocked in two positions.

I highly doubt the Renix and HO use compatible parts even if the plugs are the same.

I get what you are saying. But a 94 shouldn't have a renix motor. This dezzy wasn't in the motor in was just in the jeep. I'm thinking it might not be from this motor. I haven't had time to check it out more as I haven't been getting home from work till almost 9pm.

Really? I was pretty sure all the 6 cyl HOs used the same dizzy...

Nope, My 95 has what the deal parts guy referred to as the "oddball" distributor. First time I did a tune up, he handed me a new cap and rotor and warned me there are 2 distributor listed for my year but he gave me the more common one. Turns out my jeep is special.

Well just before it got dark I got my spare rotor from my 98 and slaped it on the dizzy and pushed in in the motor. Slid in no problem until the last .25inch. But I wasn't trying very hard and I had to pee so I was rushing.

It seemed to engage fine. And lined up with plug no.1.

Hopefully this weekend I'll get some real time to mess with it.

That last .25" is probably your oil pump lining up with the slot in the dizzy...

Yea I figured I'll try pushing it in and rock the motor back and forth by hand and it will probably seat.

If I ever get the Chance. I went from no work and no jeep to bein g at work from 5-7 everyday and a jeep.
