Pismo run May 21-22

So is anybody else bringing something for the potluck Sat. night? Or is it just Stew and Rolls, with pies for dessert?

Anyone?

One favor to ask...

If anybody is going to pick of a flag on Friday would you mind picking up an extra for me? I doubt stores will be open when I get up there and I'd rather not run back into town before playing Saturday morning.

Thanks!

And make sure its a rainbow flag....we would not want to upset him by getting the wrong color.

We're going to look for a spot between mile marker 5 and 6, which is a little ways past the entrance to the sand highway. We'll be close to the beach, but far enough back so we don't risk getting wet at high tide.

Here's a map of Oceano Dunes SVRA. To get there, exit Hwy 101 at Grand Ave, go towards the beach and turn left at Hwy 1 (which is just past the railroad tracks). Turn right on Pier Ave which takes you to the beach. There is a booth where you pay the entry fee right before you go out onto the beach. Turn left on the beach and go down and cross the creek. Mile marker 1 is right after crossing the creek, the sand highway is between mile marker 4 and 5, and we'll try to be between mile marker 5 and 6.

Here's the tide chart for Friday. It's good for those of us getting there in the afternoon, with a low tide at 2:03 pm, but not so good for anyone towing in a trailer in the evening, with a good high tide at 8:31 pm. It's not an issue for anyone not towing an RV trailer, and still doable with a 4x4 tow rig with some air let out of the tires..

2:44:31 AM 0.65 Feet Low
8:35:16 AM 3.59 Feet High
2:03:41 PM 1.15 Feet Low
8:31:41 PM 5.36 Feet High

I'll have a NAXJA banner hanging on the side of the camper or trailer, and I'll be with two toyhouse trailers with quads. We're planning on a pot luck Sat evening. If the wind blows we'll have to play it by ear.

If the wind blows pack all your stuff up inside the trailers, load the kids up, and head down the freeway to Nipomo (town between Santa Maria and Arroyo Grande) There is a hole in the wall steak joint there called Jocko's that is about the best i've ever had. I've gotten more then a few filet mignon's there that have been better then Ruth's Chris or Morton's or any of those other top dollar steak houses.

I can shoot you directions if you want em ;)

I will be stopping there on my way up the following week for 18oz Filet :gag:

My third Jeep said he will be bringing some sort of pasta salad for the potluck and someone in my Jeep said she was bringing sloppy joes...I'm gettin hungry already.

I picked up an extra flag for anyone who needs one. Any motorcycle or quad place should sell them.....$13. Plus, they sell them at Oceano right before you get on the beach.

Loading up......... :D

Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!

Right now it's up in the air :( Holly might be coming down with a cold (not surprising, she's been running herself ragid lately) and if my death wobble isn't cured there's no way I can make the trip.

I'll keep updates coming - I replaced the pitman arm TRE and the track bar last night, I'll need to get it aligned and test it out as soon as I can, of course work's being a bitch about time off.

Can we just take the Mini there? :D

Bring the mini...I have a tow bar, so I'll pull you around the dunes:)

 I won't be able to make it. But a wummer!!! :rattle:

Well...

Got the Jeep loaded and the bag packed. Still up in the air a bit, it all depends on whether I get death wobble tomorrow morning on the way to work. If it wobbles I don't go. If it doesn't wobble I'll be there on the later side.

What's the plan around lunch-thirty? Lunch back at camp or on the dunes? I ask because I'd like to sleep in a bit if I can (been losing too much sleep lately!).

Well - didn't have a strick of DW on the way to work, so I'll probably be up there.

Gonna drive like an old lady though - Haven't driven the Jeep in a week so all the rattles and vibrations don't feel normal anymore ;)

I had a blast...hope everyone else had half the fun. :D

It was good to meet a few new folks, JohnX and Jarred, plus Witt, Sequoia and myself from SoCal. Jes, Gary E, and Scrappy made it from the Sierra chapter, plus Chuck in his TJ and quads, and Scott and Eddie with their quads. Mark came out Sunday. It was windier than normal on Fri and Sun, but it was nice on Sat and we were able to have our pot luck Sat night. We also had great fires both nights....JohnX really knows how to bring firewood.

We pulled out plenty of stuck trucks, including a stock XJ on Sunday, and towed one broken buggy all the way back out to their camp on the beach. I got to run out of gas while running a bowl on one of the night runs, had to get winched back level so it would start. Definitely have to do it again next year.
