Pismo run May 21-22

What time are you guys gonna show up? I'm thinking about trying to get there about 5pm friday with my wagon train...Anybody else gonna be there before that?

I should have 2 more XJ's with me (my wifes and my neighbors)

John

We'll be there between 3-4 on Friday afternoon, and we'll grab a good spot and try to stake out an area for us. I can hang a NAXJA banner on the side of the camper if that will help people find us, especially if they come in at night. You should be able to see the XJ's, but we may be out in the dunes when you get there. :)

Sounds good, we'll look for you when we get there.

John

So whos all going, I may need to pull a favor from someone and maybe ask if some kind soul would be willing to drop off my 3rd member at a drivetrain shop in San Luis Obispo (about 2 mi from pismo)

This is all dependent on if I can source some gears or not.

I'll be up there the following weekend and could pick the 3rd up. Just dont really want to make multiple trips if i can avoid it.

Scott - can you get the third to me? Haven't sent your box out either, so we could swap the two items and I could drop it off in SLO.

Very possible. Hang onto the box for now until we figure out whats going on. I am heading to the yard this weekend to see if I can track down a rear that has the 5.13's I need. I have a lead on a dually rear axle that has 5.13's so i'm gonna see what I can find. If that falls through I got a guy in OK who has a set in a 3rd that he'd be willing to ship out here. But I dont know if taht would make it in time....

How about a run to Pismo?
Dune running, campfire in the sand, potluck dinner, night runs, enlightening campfire discussions........should be fun. :)

Anyone want to go?

Hmmmm, sand? That could be an interesting change from losing a bead in the mud for Ethan. :D And I'm always open (pun optional) to new ways to get stuck. Looks like Ethan and I have no choice but to be there. Prolly able to get there early Fri. afternoon.
Richard, what night were you thinking for the pot luck? Also, I've been past there several times on the way to Morro but never looked around. Where exactly would I look to find you guys?

Since Fri is a travel day, we'll do a potluck dinner on Sat. For those that aren't too far away, it's not a bad day run. The last few times I've been there I drove over from Bakersfield for the day.

To get there you exit the 101 Fwy on Grand Ave in Grover Beach, and head west towards the beach. Cross the railroad tracks and turn left on Pacific Blvd, then turn right on Pier Ave. Pay the entry fee and go out onto the beach turning left to head south. We'll be down the beach aways where there is access to the dunes, and I'll hang a NAXJA banner on the side of my camper.

There will be plenty of other vehicles on the beach, so we'll stake out an area for our group. Anyone who can, bring some firewood. There are toilets on the beach and also back in the dunes.

I'll be cruising up on Friday after Holly gets off work, that'll probably have me leaving the West side at about 5.30 or 6.00 (Ugly traffic time!).

Hopefully I fix my death wobble by then!

fixing death wobble is over-rated.

People pay for rides like that a Magic Mtn.

Cool!

Can we get some kind of head count for the potluck saturday night...I'd like to know how much food to bring...and see what others are bringing (so we don't overlap)?

I will have 3 XJ's and 7-8 people.

Also...will anybody have a microwave to reheat food?

The idea of a potluck is everyone bring enough food for themselves.......and it just works out. :)

We'll eat whatever everyone brings......keep it simple. However, we can all post what we're bringing if we know. I don't know yet......

If the wind comes up we'll have to switch to plan B......everyone pile inside of Matt's trailer. :D

I thought a potluck was when everybody brought one dish that was enough to share with everyone. One bowl of salad, one bag of rolls, a dozen baked potatoes, a pot of beans, etc. ???

Am I wrong or what?

John

If you have 15 people who all bring a dish that will feed 15 people, you'll have WAY too much food for 15 people to eat. That would be a 15 course meal. :)

I usually bring a Costco pie or two, so count on me for some desert.

Okay, so your one dish is pies...that exactly what I was saying...just a misunderstanding. My one dish will be a crockpot of something...maybe beans, or potatoes, carrots, onions, etc (in other words...Stew). So somebody grab some rolls to go with it.
