On the street...literally.

Sweet. IMO, it would look great if you kept the "stock" look. Or even better, stuff 31's on some rubicon wheels while keeping 4wd and keep it clean. Ok... now I want to build one. lol.

You forgot to suggest a turbo for it! :D

this thing is pretty sweet, i would love to see more build pics

i have a link to the build to that 2 door with the gey wheels on my work CP

Not the Early SHO, that was a 3.0l twin cam Yamaha V-6, the last Naturally asperated ones were some kind of small twin cam V-8 that may have been related to the 2.5l and 3.0l Taurus V-6 and Jaguar/Astin Martin V-12's (that could make an interesting swap BTW :D )

wasnt it some weird version of the 4.6? it was dohc though.. hmm

Cadillac 4.9 liter sideways v8

Commonly used in Fiero mid-engine swaps

To answer both your questions

hell yea northstar ftw!

That was the 96-99. I could have sworn they put the 5.0 in the 92-95 SHO, apparently not.

i dont think any of the Taurus's had an eight cyl

Its also hard to think of any V8 front wheel drive fords

maybe its just hard to think for me......

The 96-99 Taurus had a 3.4L DOHC V8. It was essentially a 2.5 Duratech V6 with two extra cylinders build by Yamaha and Cosworth. The other FWD V8 was the 95-02 Lincoln Continental which had a detuned version of the Mark VIII/Mustang Cobra 4.6 DOHC mounted longitudinally with a unique 4.6 block. Everything except the block can be used on any 4.6.

I thought about rear engine...but dismissed it quickly as non sensical. The 5.0L will fit. I started fabbing the mounts today but its so frickin hot.

I am glad you folk are enjoying it so far. I got some pics of the frame and some other goodies. I had it aired up recently, but I am waiting for some 4 link parts to come in to make it officially a roller.

Here you can get a general look at the frame and crossmembers. (The bars behind the rear doors are left over bracing I havn't cut off yet) The rear is strong and solid as all hell.

This is the B pillar crossmember and body mounts. The tubing goes under and through the rocker and also all the way up the B pillar and rosette welded throughout. Also the driveshaft tunnel...yeah HUGE!

I apolojize for the pics of the front. Same idea as the B pillar but with a bit more beef (tubing on inside and outside of A pillar). And the GIGANTIC trans tunnel. That is mocked up for a T5 trans.

And the motor. This is the 5.0L sitting on quick fab flat mounts. It will be coming down 2 inchs to the crossmember and will clear the beams and tie rods.

This is what seams to work in my mind. I have cycled it several times and it is solid and square. The body mounts do have hand made urethane bushings and isolaters as well.

ENJOY! I welcome all FRIENDLY tips and concerns.

You know you may be able to get a bit more wiggle room with that 5.0 if you cut it over to dry sump.
