Newbie - Just got an MJ

Well she is road worthy... I finally got her on the street last night. No death wobble, breaks work, didn't over heat (raining) Sure is a bit of a pig on the freeway though 3.73s on 33s, fifth gear is kinda useless. Oh and the back window leaks a bit too. Next step is a rear bumper and to getting her all one color.

Hmm. 4.10s won't be but 5% better either though. :lecture:

I ran 4.10's in my last '89 with 33's and loved it, to me it was perfect on the freeway, the rpm was right about 2200 with the flow of traffic. Commuting 50-60 miles a day I could squeze almost 400 miles out of a 20 gallon tank. My 2000 that I have now came with 4.88s and 33's.... I hated it. 3k on the freeway and about 250-300 miles till empty. I regeared it to 4.56's and it went up to about 300-350ish if not more when I cruise it. Sometimes I almost wish it had 4.10s just to see what I could squeze out of it on the freeway.

I know you talked about doublers and what not, I say go for the 4.10's. At least you will have the extra low for the rocks.

I have 4.10s up front so that is what i will try. I can always try some thing else later. The fuel savings should be good.

So today i was driving and when i pushed the brake the amber front turn signal lights would get brighter and the turn signal indicators on the dash would light up then later the break lights and turn signals gave up the ghost. Checked fuses any suggestions or links to wire diagrams?

Did you guys mess with the wiring at all? I believe the MJ rear turn signal wiring goes through the brake lamp switch, it's possible the wiring was then tapped together with the fronts for some reason and it messed it up.

Check the ground behind the drivers side rear tail light. That little guy will cause all kinds of lighting ghosts.

Didn't touch any wiring at all.

Good idea.

He did pull the lense to change a bulb ;)

Thanks Bo.

It was good meeting you & your MJ at the party yesterday. Looks like a solid build; keep up the good work!! Don't let Cracker warp you too badly!
