Wow. I had no idea. Is it a curse?

No. Not a curse more of an inconvenience. Both winners received some nice XJs that just had bad luck. The 1st XJ started out with a tired engine and that is a lesson taken away for future builds. The winner did get in a full day of wheeling at Moab and was east bound on I-70 when the motor quit. The second XJ for the 25th anniversary if I recall correctly had a right wheel bearing seize up also eastbound on I-70. Fortunately the winner was in a caravan that included a trailer.

So Jon the real moral here is don't drive eastbound on I-70, make sure a west coaster wins the XJ (maybe rightseatsis) and have it southbound on I-15 or westbound on I-80.

Hahaha LOL. I was just joking around but yah, a wheel bearing is totally reasonable, and a tired motor is out of the picture with this one since we picked up a late model with low mileage . We can also install brand new unit bearings and throw a spare one in the back.

the build continues this coming weekend, starting at 11:00 saturday.
i want to pull the rear axle & gut it for the new arb & gears, install the leafs & rammin97's shackles, install brake lines, paint the frame stiffeners, & get started on wiring.
so far i have commitments from the_weirdo & bryan c to help on sunday but could use as much help as i can get on saturday.

so...who wants to join in on the fun? arty:

i need to revise this saturdays start time to 11:00 as i have to take Jax to doggie school. this will be his second class of protection training. we want to get him trained the same as Bruno.
sunday we can start as early as 8:00 if anyone wants to come over that early.

Jax is a total goofball & friendly to everyone so you are safe.
Bruno can take you down & hold you on the ground in 2 seconds if Diane tells him to.

back to business: the fun starts saturday at 11:00

thanks to mr. ed we got the rear axle out & stripped today, as well as the old leafs & shackles out & the new leafs & shackles in. got both arb's prepped with new ring gears installed & bearings pressed on.
pat (the weirdo's dad) stopped by to drop off the new bead lock wheels for the project, & rob hung out for a while as well.

the build continues sunday morning at 10:00.

remember, all are welcome to come by & help with this build. (i need LOTS of help!)

Made some more progress today, and had a special guest appearance from Washington

Bryan C came out and set up the gears/ARB's in both axles

Tim shaving a rear end

Tim also welded on the mini skids and reinforced the control arm mount on the D30

It was great to see Josh and Bryan C come out today! It would be nice to see a few more peeps come out to lend a hand.
