My new XJ

did you flip that image or is that a passenger drop axle? I'm confused because your driveline is hanging on the driver side in the other pics, unless you are swapping to pass drop and just haven't changed that over yet.

EDIT: (yeah, you probably said this earlier, maybe I should read the rest of the thread again)

its passenger side drop. ive got a dana 300/klune combo going in later, currently the 231 is still in there, ill be taking it out sometime this week.

do work son!!!!! get it done so we can go riding!

its not like you have alot to do haha

alright, got off my butt and got the 231 out:

im lazy so i cut out a bit to reach the top bolts (this'll make the klune install easier as well):

sweet!! your starting to gather quite the parts collection!

yea, i also just got in a new 1350 yoke with Ubolts for the 14bolt, and ive got 2 more coming, 1 for the front axle, and 1 for the front output of the dana 300. Ill be ordering the 32 spline hd output for the 300 next week, hopefully that'll help it handle the klune a little better.

my welder quit on me (its at repair shop now) so progress has slowed. my buddy is gonna bring his miller over tomorrow so i can finish up the crossmember. here's where im at on it:

also put the 44 under the jeep...i still need to replace the ball joints, and buy new shims for the pinion (they fell apart on me when i took it out)

currently deciding how i want to build my track bar

crossmember is bolted in...
28591_517180101573_180200196_30730264_8182017_n.jpg

sits about 1/2 inch lower than stock, but its made entirely out of 1/4 inch steel, and has 5 1/2" bolts per side.
oh and i got my welder back

Wondering why you decided to keep the crossmember as close to stock as you did?
Why not raise it and do a little tummy tuck?
I'm actually doing my front 44 and crossmember for the 3 link and front stiffeners right now.
Looks good,

i looked at doing a flat belly pan for the crossmember, but it would have been a lot more work, and not much gain in my opinion. my rock krawler brackets for the long arms would need to be trimmed back, and so would the pinch seam on in the inside of the unibody rails (then welded back together). im not worried about hitting it, its strong enough now to take some abuse, and with my added lift and bigger tires it will be significantly higher then when i just had 4.5" inches of lift.

Makes sense.
Thanx for the reply.
Like I said I'm in the middle of a similar build and have been following your progress and others for a while.

no problem. you have some pictures of what you are working on?

bought new rotors, wheel studs, lug nuts. also put the front header panel back on. should be buying new ball joints this week, and working on building a panhard bar bracket on the axle.

to do list:

-replace ball joints in 44
-order long side inner chromo shaft (back ordered)
-clean up and paint hub/brake parts on 44 and install
-build trackbar mount on axle, weld on frame side mount, buy steel/build track bar
-replace shims in 44, reinstall carrier and pinion w/ new 1350 yoke
-install front axle/coils/shocks and get it sittin on 4 tires
-tear down dana 300, clean and rebuild w/ 32 spline rear output
-install dana 300/klune in jeep, tie into new crossmember
-measure and build rear driveshaft
-redo exhaust on the drivers side
-measure and build front axle
-install new fittings on all brakes, and new ss lines
-shave 14 bolt cover to match
-install hydro assist steering, build new tie rod
-some things im forgetting...
-test drive
-go wheeling

I do. They are all on my Blackberry and I haven't loaded them to my computer yet.
I guess I should.
I just finished welding up the front frame stiffners. and yesterday I pulled the front axle.
I think I may steal your idea for the crossmember at least a similar design.
