Ill start out by introducing myself. My name is Kevin, and I am from Pleasanton. I have been around ATV's, go-karts, dune buggies and automobiles all of my life, and have enjoyed every second of it. This build is just feeding my addiction.

So I got this 96 Jeep Cherokee Sport for $2000 w/112,000 miles. It was in immaculate condition. Paint is (was) perfect, and interior is almost spotless. It has a 8.25, D30, AX-15, NP231, 4.0 I6. Has a slight miss at idle but runs strong. This XJ is my first car and will be my daily driver and weekend wheeler.

Here I will be keeping track of all that I have done, and all that will be done in the future. All tips, comments, jokes etc are welcome!

I couldn't wait to wheel, so just a few days after I got it, we headed up to our cabin at Lake Alpine and hit up Slick Rock. Got about half way through and then chickened out.

When I got home, I bought a Rough Country 4.5" full leaf kit, and riced it up a bit with some red walmart paint.

Welcome. I am in Dublin so I am sure I will see your rig around. I also have a cabin in Blue Lake springs and spend a lot of time on slickrock.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Didn't get much done thats worth posting today.. Just finished wiring up my speakers, and installed a new steering stabilizer.

The real fun will start after the 28th (Monday) when I get my tube bender in the mail!

Right now I'm crunching some numbers for a front 3-link build. If anybody has experience with 3-links, let me know.

Sounds good. I think i will be doing slick rock 7/30-8/1 camping at Utica.

There's nothing wrong with rice, and I definitely felt a loss on HP when I took them off... I plan on slowly adding more, but will be sticking strictly to brands that I use.

Well, the brown santa came..... multiple times. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. I need to stop being lazy and actually grab the camera next time.

Im gunna wheel slick rock again this weekend, and will hopefully start on the cage/bumpers when I get back from my trip.

Those are great pics. Got a pic of the Apple diff cover installed? I thought that sucker was pretty well made and it should give you plenty of protection.

rocknxj - I thought I had a pic or two somewhere.. Ill post them up as soon as I find them. It is definitely well made, and I there is no doubt it will hold up to the abuse I will throw at it.

SeansXJ - I originally planned on running 1.5" .25 wall DOM steering components with 3/4" hiems... But my budget has changed recently, and so have my plans. So I plan on picking up some ZJ steering, and just running that until it breaks...

Connor - Im sorry, I see no sexy blue jeep

jkjk I love your jeep dude

you can grab zj tie rods for 18$ at pnp.
thats really all you need for a cheap upgrade.
