My "Hero" Blog

Thanks Gordo. I'll look into pricing on those pumps.

And I've done that test so many times. Nothing seems to have excessive play in it. The steering/trackbar heims always have the slightest bit of play in them. I've had them replaced under warranty numerous times and tight or ever so slightly loose, they've never effected my death wobble. If I could drop the caster down to 4* I would but my control arms are all fixed. Hrmmmmm.

I'm so down dude. I really want to get out there. When's the next trip?

Ball joints are shot (uppers at least). I only have maybe 3-4k on brand new spicers? Uppers are toast. Maybe it's because recently when I wheel I think I'm competing in the King of the Hammers? Idk.

Are Synergy ball joints the only things that are worth while for these things? Spicers obviously aren't gonna cut it.

ugh. if I add some inner and top frame plating and my popping goes away i might be down to go again. the problem being, I couldn't go until probably the first or second week in novmeber due to other crap going on.

Its looking like the last weekend in november we'll be heading to reno in stephs new rig.

you mean thanksgiving? I'll be in reno for thanksgiving too. maybe I'll just bring my rig.. but we're already planning to go up there on (I think Jon said) the 15th. we should all just figure out how to sync up. and also start our own thread about it probably lol

I'll do it

I'm all down for wheeling guys. Just got a lot of work to do before hand and don't have much time to do it.

I can get hooked up on synergy ball joints for about the same price as the spicers I've been getting so those are going to be ordered soon.

Planning on ordering a psc high flow pump and low rpm pulley at a killer price too.

Might order a psc ram while I'm at it cause I can get one for about $100. What ram size do I need? 1.75x8" is what I'm thinking. Then hoses and all that from surplus center.

Oh and my frame is cracked at the steering box. The plug welds at the left frame horn separated from the front crossmember. I'll look for more cracks today.

Anybody know where to get a good steering box rebuild kit?

I would consider grabbing a 4 bolt j10 box or something like that over rebuilding yours . I did not have luck with 2 different boxes.

Any PS pump recommendations before I splurge on a PSC high flow pump?

Psc

I have psc pump installed last year, works awesome. Before summer
this year I installed psc big bore box due to sector shaft play.
Work perfect... I recommend

Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to hold off on the psc order for now. Ball joints will be ordered when the season is over.

As of right now I need axle ujoints. I spat the passenger side cap out the other day while getting onto the freeway and need to replace that.

I replaced the other ujoint (after it spat the cap on highway 4) with napa's strongest ujoint (can't remember the name), then wheeled the rubicon and parked the jeep. Probably has 300 miles on it and the joint is shot. I can feel/see the play just by grabbing the ear and rotating it when the tires are off the ground.

Anyways I need to find a good ujoint and slap new ones in. Might just order spicers on amazon and hope they actually show up (last ones never showed).

Gotta get the heep dialed for fordyce

Kevin go with spicer 760s and weld em in . if they are popping out that frequently try to get more than 2 tack welds on each, and consider full circle clips. hell put a few tacks, then let it cool then another few, and keep that up until the joint is really welded in there.

Yeah they're stock shafts. I'll grab some 760s and I guess I'll tack em in. I just don't like that once they're tacked in solid, they make the shaft useless if I just blow a ujoint on the trail. Oh well. I guess that's why I carry spares lol.

Thanks for the pointer josh. I'll give them a call sometime this week.
