Johnson Valley Nov 19-20

Sounds fun but I know my heep isnt worthy maybe Ill come spectate

Seems like alot of people hear "JV", and think bashfest and 38's. Like Richard said, there is practically every type of terrain, and degree of difficulty imaginable there. You could drive a 2wd vehicle around for days and not take the same route twice. There are sand dunes (or at least one really big one :D), and there are quite a few "moderate" trails and areas.

Really, the place has something for everyone.

Staying within the capability of the vehicle and skills is the key, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with spectating... lots to be learned from some of these guys!

Your vehicle need not be the determining factor for going to this event. There will be an easy run, and a moderate run. Participation in the more extreme stuff will probably be strictly up to the run leaders discretion, nothing personal, all decisions final and a no whining basis. If you've never been there, it promises to be a great introduction to JV and should be a great event.

I want to ditto Ron's comments. Johnson Valley is known among those in our sport for it's hardcore trails. However, it is also very popular with the ATV and motorcycle crowd, and they have regular off-road races there. Like Ron said, there are trails for every level out there. I think it is time that we take advantage of the other trail opportunities that are there at JV, which is part of the motivation for putting together this run. There are (very) few places where we can all get together, enjoy the visiting, check out all the rigs, sit around the campfire and pick on each other, and still have trails that will more than satisfy everyone at every level.

If you have a lightly modified rig, and would like to be able to do a fun run, and then drive over and watch the hardcore guys finish a tough trail, this is the place for it. Plus, for me, the wheeling is only part of the fun I have going on wheeling trips. Hanging out, eating, and visiting with friends is easily as important and as much fun as the wheeling.

See you there,

I'm in.

How about Big Tard?

Ditto again to Ron and Goatmans comments. I for one am not planning on doing any of the harder trails but planning on exploring the valley and playing around the sand dunes. If lucky, I may convince my neighbor to go so I can ride as well. It is a great place to explore and have a good time with friends.

But don't forget, if you go, there is the manditory night run on Tackhammer. :D

Now you are scaring me, an all nighter on Tackhammer????? :wierd: You must have started drinking early if you think I will run that trail with you. :laugh3:

I'd like to make it...but I don't know if it's in my best interest for the home life. In two weeks, I go to Moab for a week, two weeks after that, I go to Colorado elk hunting for two weeks, two weeks after that go to JV?? Maybe, but my wife may start to miss me. Or if she doesn't....maybe I should stay home to find out why...

You need to get some JV time in before daddy time!

I've got at least 3 JV runs lined-up before our pre-turkey day run, maybe you can come down in Oct. or early Nov., or tomorrow :) ???

He's selling his Jeep and buying a minivan.

I'm planning on being there. Maybe I can have all my dents fixed by then.

Totally uncalled for.

The thing that MAY save me is my wife's love of all you fawkers and the good times we have. Not to mention the wheeling.

I just enjoy the wheeling, and could really do without the company. :D

A little trail update from this weekend. Sludge hammer was harder than I have ever seen it. Wrecking ball Has some fun new stuff as well. Claw seems unchanged. But we went down it. A few pics to see what you'll be missing if you don't go.

Getting waxed again on the fall. Three tries up than back down still couldn't do it. This thing gets me ever time. It is very dug out at the bottom. It looks like it would take a level of commitment with the skinny pedal I just don't have.
