Interested in Joining NAXJA, but I don't qualify yet. I need a Xj

I don't have an Xj. I know there is a wanted section, but I just wanted to let the people around here know, since Im in southern cali. Im looking for any year Xj with less than 200k, for around $1000. Body Damage is no problem, a solid motor is more important. Its going to be a weekend rig, not a daily driver. If anyone knows one available, Im looking to buy.

Thanks for your help.

Look at craig's list. I know of couple people that got some pretty decently looking xj's for $500 to $1500 from there.
Btw, where in SoCal are you?

Those classifieds are awesome. Way better than the autotrader and cars.com Ive been looking through. I was looking all last week and that weekend and found nothing. Im going to have to check these out.

My goal is to have a rig by the time I finish Spring Semester( mid may). Thanks for the invite on the M&G. But this week is to busy. Maybe next time. Thank for your help.

Are the front fenders removeable? Edit Yes. I searched
This Xj looks like I could replace the bumper with an offroad bumper, either bang out the fender or replace it. And rig up new turn signals. Just to get it drivable.

I know the xj is unibody, how would damage like that affect it?
I haven't called yet for the specifics, but I thought I would ask anyway.

Yes the fenders are replaceable, and that hit could have damaged the unibody on the left front. I see that most likely the fender, bumper, and core support are all that need to be replaced...just my guess from a look at the pic. Not a bad deal, still would drive it before purchase. Welcome... I am also in HB...

Scott.

Just keep looking on craigslist. They add cities and sections all the time. There are always tons of xj's on there for cheap in better condition than that one. There's also some mj's for really cheap on there. There is one in San Diego for like $1600. Don't rush, you find better deals when you're not in a rush and usually get a better vehicle.

Make sure that the frame rail is not damaged up front: if it seems to have a different angle in relation to the opposite one or dimples or crinkles consider that rig to be a fair amount of work.

Good Advice. I definantly am looking the the best condition for my buck.

Im really suprised. It seems like most of the people on this board are good friendly people. Its really good. I spend some time on many forums, and that kind of atmostphere is rare.

My Daily driver is a 99 Firebird, and I am pretty well established over at www.firebirdv6.com. I am the current featured f-body on the front page, if you wanna check that out.

Im gonna keep my eyes peeled and hopefully pick out a nice XJ.

Thanks for all you help.

DON'T BUY A CHEROKEE!!!
All your spare spending loot will vanish before your eyes!
You will start hanging out with social outcasts...
Your fingernails will never be clean again...(unless you soak them in gasoline)
You will spend too much damn time 'web-wheelin'..rather than out driving..
You will start checking out other GUYS rear ends!!!
When your out and your 'locked and loaded' the only person you imperil is yourself! (don't ask any of us how we would know that)
Being stacked...is not a good thing...even if you are female!
I could go on...but I bet you get the picture...

It's funny Remi that I Join the naxja forum by your probing, and the first message I read is you telling people to read craigslist. :)

Remi should have told you as well, when you find a deal on CL, email/call -RIGHT AWAY- .. and take cash. Alot of people read CL and the deal's go fast. Be sure to look at the vehicle over though.

I got my 1987 XJ 4.0 4x4 with 28k miles on it for $700 6 months ago, because "it doesn't run".

I turned the headlights off and jumpstarted it.
