Moving back to La Crosse!

For the time being I am going back to work for the Ferd Dealer in La Crosse in an effort to make and subsequently, save, money...

Of course this means some more Jeep parts, the first of which, will be a new steering setup.. . Any recommendations?

I say go with Teraflex. A bit pricey but well worth the steering setup. I have watched a few jeeps beat the snot out of that setup and just keep going.
 
I had ran the JCR 1-ton set up before I built my custom set up...it was OK, but I believe there are better options out there that dont use that poly spacer on one end to "kind of" fix the problem. I have herd people say they are happy with their Iron Rock set ups as well......
 
My choices I am looking at were TeraFlex, Iron Rock, Rusty's, and making my own...

I guess I probably should have put that in the original post...

I agree Tyler, I do not believe that sort of thing should happen in a well built setup...
 
I run a homemade steering setup almost identical to JCR. Simple and beefy and I can have it made for me for cheap. But if I had the choice and the money I would go with the Teraflex steering. Go a step further and get the high steer knuckle. So nice!!
 
All new knuckles... Thats sweet... I'd have to find out if it'd work with the track bar system I just installed...

it only took 6 years of wheeling to make it a total POS.
 
Mine has always been ugly, but I finally realized it about 8 months ago.
 
lol...i got my current xj in january of 2004 and within a month i got hit on the interstate in an accident that was fairly minor (not my fault) but i was VERY upset...now after 5 accidents (only one of which was even remotely my fault), 2 good love taps by idiots in a parking lot, a road sign that i didnt see at 50mph, countless hunting, fishing and camping excursions, mountain climbs in massachusetts i can honestly say i i don't even remember the last time i cared about a ding, scratch or broken part...and i've never done any organized wheeling lol...only redneck style (all legal of course...being from the country and being a hunter i have a HUGE problem with idiots and trespassers)...i was hoping winterfest would be my first wheeling trip, but i was wrong. once the date is set next year, im going to put it in stone on my calendar so i don't plan on working at all that week

i can honestly say without a shadow of a doubt, the hardest miles put on my xj were the 45k that i put on in the 2.5 years we lived in new york city. i blew a brake caliper once in the lincoln tunnel and almost slammed into the wall, and i had an issue for a year or two where suddenly the jeep would only act like it was firing on 3-4 cyl's. it happened to me once in the middle of manhattan and i thought for sure i was going to have to pay to have the jeep towed to a repair shop in manhattan (wasn't very mechanically saavy back then) but after about 30 minutes of panicking and listening to my engine sounding like it was on its last leg, it suddenly snapped out of it and i don't think i took my foot off the accelerator the whole way home... honestly i don't think a lesser vehicle would have survived the torture.

also being a fatty, nyc claimed 2 driver seat frames in the time we were there...one of them i still havent fixed. i just put the back seat down and it props it into a comforatable position. someday i'll get around to installing the zj seats i have :)

i know im going to have my xj until its either incinerated in a fire, or the keys are pried out of my cold dead hands (though im pretty sure you could start it with a screw driver). even if one day its only part of a grille, my steering wheel and some other parts surrounded by a whole bunch of tube, it will still be MY xj and thats what will never change :)

I was going to say 6 to 7k. I weighed mine alone time ago and it was 6500 with 33s on my single place.

Last time I took steel in, I got a wet weight of ~4150, just the jeep.
 
Truck and trailer are at the dealership. Can't get the truck to act up unless the trailer is connected. They are going to take them both out tomorrow morning hooked up to the computer. The truck wouldn't act up without the trailer, but with the trailer, its easy to get it to start bouncing and shaking.

Also neighborhood code showed up to the house today to complain about the expedition that's been parked in the front yard forsale for a while. He also said,...that trailer is too long too...so I got to get the back yard parking done asap...
