Important

I agree with this, but the way dealerships/manufacturers portray oil changes makes people think they are able to go longer because the oil/filter are better. One of the reasons I didn't like working at the stealership was all of the 'false' advertising that goes on makes me sick.

I dunno. Using that logic you would think that they would tell people that they need a $100 oil change every 500 miles.

Pretty much. My 5.2 ZJ is close, but I'd still much rather have a 5.9. I tried to talk my wife into Big Red's 5.9, but no dice :tears:

He wanted a arm, a leg, and a ball for that z but I see he's lowered the price enough so you can keep ol' lefty.

I bought my first 59 about 5 years ago mint for 3 and my new 59 for under 2. Petty sure Mac paid about the same for his.

What does this mean?

Charge Type: C Felony Disposition: GUILTY

Sentence: Prison Length: 4 Year
Sentence: Suspended Length: 2 Year
Sentence: Probation Length: 2 Year
Sentence: JailCredit Length: 356 Day

It is a friend of mines sentence and I am trying to figure out what it means. Does it mean four years after or four years total with two years suspended and two years probation?

I change my Camry oil every 7500. Full synthetic oil with a good filter. The oil comes out more yellow and better looking than my jeep does changing it at 5000 miles.

It's not about better oil or good filters. It's about better, cleaner engines. The 3000 mi oil change was invented at a time when carberated engines with no EGR systems contaminated the oil in a very short time. The contaminated oil would break down and not fully protect the motor. It never had anything to do with how great an oil filter is.

You're right on! It's the more efficient engines.

Speaking of chrysler v8's, got in my dads 01 Ram the other day and noticed it was 7k over due for an oil change. I imagine the oil filter location is better then the inline six so I am going to change it next week. Luckily it is the higher stance Ram even though it is only 2wd. Sure hope he plans to keep the oil changed better in his 13 Corolla. That 318 does have a nice sound though out of straight pipes.

Guess not doing oil changes is something my dad and mom have in common, except my dad has no reason not to do it, he has the money to have it done.

I bought a 96 5.2 ZJ a few years ago from my dad...it had gone 15k on the oil...he knows its due...just keeps putting it off...and putting it off...that motor was still running when I sold it at 225k...just puffed a little smoke. His WJ...we all know the story there...

It is ridiculous to not do oil changes. The choice is simple. It doesn't take much to save up the cash to go to a quick lube and get it done for $25... I mean, even a dollar/week saved can net you the money to change your oil every 6 months.

Don't be surprised if it comes out sludgy, dirty or almost none comes out at all...

XJosh 'It's a helluva lot cheaper than timing chains or an engine' 95

I bet the oil comes out just fine.

It's a 242 so the wife has full time in the winter still.

I go about 3-4k on my Jeep, just depends on what money situation is like and what I remember I did the oil change at. I will be doing my Jeep in two weeks. I can't remember if it was 187k, 188k, or later. I am at 191k so I will do it then. I even told my dad a few months ago it needed done. I did do my moms and told her to change it again real soon, after about a month, she finally did it. Once, I did go 9k without changing the oil in my Jeep, but I was in a much worse financial shape then.

Autozone makes stickers that you put in your car like it went to a regular oil change place. I use them in all my stuff that I change the oil in. I just put the miles that the oil was changed at since we don't fall into the every 3 month/3k on any of our cars...except the company car and that's not my problem.

I paid $600 for my 5.9. I've got about $2500-3k in it as it sits now.

I read it as four years total with two years suspended and two years on probation...

looks like he was in prison the entire time he was waiting for trial and that's the jail days credit...

The court stuff is kind of hard to read sometimes. Its also a C felony so 4 years total is about right I think.

A buddy of mine, genoa twp, oh PD LT, was jumped by two men while doing a traffic stop this morning. He was found face down in the road unresponsive after not answering a check up. He is at the trama center for head injuries. He should be ok but I hope to god they find those shit bags and make them pay! He's like a uncle to me. My mom has been with genoa for close to 15 years and this officer was one of my trainers while I was in the academy.

Sorry, don't know the details and I was only (slightly) joking.

If he messed with a kid or a woman though...I wasn't joking at all.

The teacher I replaced is visiting tomorrow... Should be a good time knowing that with him the shop was a large storage space and with me its a large mess, of projects...

Powerjoke gets changed at 5 - 6k Rotella 15W-40 with a motorcraft filter, My jeep gets changed..... well when i think it might need it with rotella 10w-40 and a WIX, wife's is 3 - 3.5k with 10w-40 Rotella and a WIX.

buying 4 gallon jugs for the ford sucks.

I use the overhead console mileage to keep track of my oil changes. Haven't sprung for the sticker. I spend the extree monies on the Mobil1 I run. Dunno if I'm really doing anything good or not running synthetic, don't care. It's only $25 for the jug. I spend money in worse ways for sure.

A dealer I used to work for had some asinine way of making oil change intervals. It was implemented by our GM rep who was trying to improve shop efficiency. Funny how it sent our customers down the road to the quick lube joint for their services. Anyway, take the mileage at the last oil change, the mileage at the current oil change and the remaining oil life percentage and plug it into this little computer. It spits out some crazy numbers like 9K+ miles before the next service.

GM *used* to have a TSB out for oil consumption...a quart or less per 1000mi is within spec. So lemme get this straight. We're sending cars out for 9000mi with 5qts of oil and it wouldn't be out of the question to lose all their oil half way before coming in for service?! They changed that shit pretty quick when people started catching on.

The GM rep did wind up telling our service dept to back off on the mileage a little. I think they were limited to 7K on gas engines. Either way, I have never recommended going over 3K on conventional and 5-6K on synthetic and even then I'm apprehensive. I try to change my synthetic every 4K, give or take.

Local dealership picks my car up at work, changes the oil, returns it back to work. $19.95, with a "buy 4 oil changes, get the fifth free" deal.

All I need to do is remeber to call them every 3k, which doesn't take long driving 100+ miles/day.

Tahoe, Camry, and G6 all get changed at 10K. (Full synthetic with good filters.) Jeep oil get changed annually.

I'm at about 7k on the Amsoil in the Jeep. Going to get an oil sample kit and send off to see what it looks like.

XJ Gets cheap 5w30 and a motorcraft FL1A on the 3k

WJ gets 15w40 and a FL1A every 3k but i might be doing it at 2k since its getting a small dose of antifreeze due to leaky head gaskets.

Ahh, you found your leak?

From what I heard, he got drunk and did something stupid with a gun (no one hurt, just property damage). I hope he learned his lesson and I won't hold what he did against him. Everyone makes mistakes.

Agreed and sometimes a good spanking is all it takes. Like I said though, when it comes to hurting kids and women, there are no second chances with me.
