Hey experts! Need advice troubleshooting power door lock issues in a 98 Cherokee.

Current situation:
  • All power windows work, and the driver window lockout works.
  • Power mirrors work on both sides.
  • Power locks work in the front 2 doors consistently.
  • Rear doors and hatch DON'T work or work inconsistently.
Here's what I've done so far:
  1. I have the overhead console, but I have disconnected everything lock related going to it from the junction block in the passenger foot well.
  2. I have replaced the driver door switch with a brand new switch.
  3. I did NOT replace the passenger side switch. However, I have 2 of them, and they both produce the same results. The one that came with the jeep looks pretty new.
  4. I have continuity checked every wire that passes through the rubber door channels in the front doors, and they all checked out. Checked from the switches to the footwell connections. No wire breaks in the doors.
My next step is going to each of the rear actuators and testing them directly with 12v. However, I have read other posts where they all worked, and nobody was able to figure out where things were breaking down. If there are any tips that someone could provide, that'd be much appreciated. This is my last task before putting this thing back on the road.

Never got any responses on this, but I ended up taking the rear doors and hatch apart unplugging the locks in different combos to see what worked and what didn't. In the end, I dtermined that the actuators for both rear doors were bad. I pulled one and attempted to fix it myself, but it was almost impossible to do so without destroying the assembly. Decided it wasn't worth the time it would have taken when I could get replacements on Amazon for $50 a piece. Everything works perfectly now, including hatch which is still original.
