I know this, I'm going to swap in a selectable and some cryo'd gears as well. Probably not this year though.

On 33's? Seems overkill to me. I've ran 33's and 35's on stock D30's forever and the only thing I've ever broke was a ring and pinion. Even then I was being totally stupid trying to yank a much bigger vehicle out in reverse.
 
The MW and SE trails are a little different than Moab. I couldn't keep a stock shaft a s joint in a locked 30 with 33"s for one trip. X760 with full circle clips are a must and chromo shafts are a real good idea if you're locked. 35"s here are a 30 killer.

Building a 44 is dumb.

You could spend the same amount in a 60 and actually have beef.

A 44 is basically a glorified 30 with a slightly larger ring gear...I'm pretty sure when I build my 30 front for the LJ I'm going to use the iron rock d30 axle truss.

i still think RCVs are overkill on a 30 though...

ive been doing a lot of crap with my 30 since i locked it that i often think i shouldnt... lots of wheel speed, and dumping the clutch. shits hard with a manual! sometimes shit just happens though, i guess ive been lucky on 33s. maybe it also has something to do with the light wheel/tire combo.
 
I'm in the middle of a 2 3/4 hour break before my last stop. I enjoy getting paid to surf the N and fb, but I'd also like to go home, but I also like my paycheck. It's all time/half. I'll stop bitching.
