i hate really hate fords...

My new job consists of ALOT of driving and walking. My issued ride is like a 98/99 ford ranger. And it is a POS. It is on it's second engine in 125k miles, the a/c sucks, the bench seat is bad on my back, and can't turn for crap, has NO room, no options, radio sucks (sound staging), and worse of all, NO ASS! THEN, every day, I get in my 90' heep and drive home. Which has great sound, comfy bucket seats, and some get up n go! Our county was full of duches' when they took bids for these POS rangers.

Sold it bought a Cherokee. Never looked back.

That was 6 years ago, been ridin' XJ's every since.

I agree and disagree. It's a Ranger, what do you expect from it???
My roomate has a '97 with almost 200k, been rolled over on the highway a year ago and still runs like a champ. Only thing we did to get it started was pull the plugs and crank the engine to get the oil out. Top that off with purple paint and you got a POS, but it's reliable.

Yes Honkey, I gotta agree with ya. The old man has an F350 and it gets 8mpg where ever you go. Had to put a new 460 in it at 140K. Smoked like a SOB. Chevy and Jeeps all the way.

YES! The new rides are 06 colorados. They are nice as hell, extended cab. Too bad the budget for last year only allowed for 3 of them. Good thing is, we get a new budget in july. Hopefully they will buy some more and retire the fords completely. On another note, I have yet to ride in a ford that WAS comfortable.

Yep, that's what they are. They ride soooooo smooth, cold A/C, tons of extra room, and plenty of getupngo. But they still don't "flip-a-bitch" like the jeep does. Comparatively, the gear ratio on stock XJ boxes just plain rawks compaired to everything else.

I don't hate Fords in general but i agree with you on the Rangers, should have went from the line to the crusher. Never road correctly, felt like i was in a smaller box then my 84 Dodge Colt even.
I'd take my XJ over the Ranger anyday in everyway.

I hate fords mostly because of their communists beginnings. And the fact that they are one of the biggest supporters of Environmental activist groups.

Oh and that they knew they had a serious problem with the design of the first gen Explorers but kept it quiet and let them kill a bunch of people.

I don't trust a Ford I didn't build.

The last nail in the coffin for Fords for me was a motorpool Ford (I think it was a Tempo - this was back in 1991 or so...) that I was driving down 101 - and there started a couple of "POP!" sounds up front, while the steering went all swimmy.

I got it wrestled to the side of the road, and got a look underneath. I'm fairly sure there's not supposed to be daylight where there should be two bits welded together, but there was. About a half-inch worth. Damn front clip was coming apart.

That's the last Ford I've ever willingly driven...

My grandfather's first car was a ten-year-old Ford.

My dad's first car was ten-year-old Ford.

My first (legal) car was a then ten-year-old 1982 Ford Capri - the later-generation version of the 1970's US-market Mercury Capri that was essentially the European Mustang. Looked fantastic, great on long drives, but handled like crap and nearly killed me after putting itself into a stone wall at around 60mph. I only survived because it was built like a tank, but have the various pins in my ankles and other random pains as a result of that incident.

I passed my driving test in the US in a 1990 Taurus wagon. By God was that thing a vile-handling automobile, and it loved running through steering racks and pumps at an alarming rate. Surprisingly, for a 3.8-litre model, it never had engine or transmission problems and is still in the family. Looked good (and kinda still does in a way) for the time, though.

Drove the new Mustang. Doesn't handle, though it is better than its predecessors in that department. I'll take a C6 over it any day.

I'll never buy another Ford product in my life unless it's a GT or an original GT40. Bear in mind that I grew up in a country that's entirely devoid of the Ford / GM / Chrysler rivalry - but I haven't been impressed with any of their products otherwise.

I plan on giving my kid a ten-year-old Ford as his first car so that he can make his own mind up.

I got an '05 Z71 I5 'Rado with 4.10 gears and an auto locking rear diff. I love the truck. I wouldnt trade it for anything. Why? Cause I already have a Jeep. So what else do I need?

Besides, whenever I get around to the whole 'having kids' thing, I don't think a 10-year-old Jeep would be a suitable vehicle. Can't let them grow up with IFS. I think we're gonna need something older

FWIW - 05 Ranger V-6, 4X4, 110K miles. One fantastic truck! The company is talking replacment soon....I only hope they do this well again.

Just hosin' ya for sure, but there are bad apples from every manufacturer. I've got an XJ in the garage right now that won't run no matter what I do to it. Less than 100 K, 4 cyl. Electrical gremlins that need an exorcist instead of a mechanic I suspect. I've seen plenty of those BTW.

So, with that being said, here's a Ford for ya...

230K - original motor (never opened up). Cold air. Comfortable - drive it everywhere... Last year from Louisville, KY to Moab, Wisconsin (twice), Florida, Pennsylvania, and all points between -- wheel it -- then drive it home...
