Hunters/archers

nice deer...can ya make me some jerky :)

i'm heading out to a river spot on my new private spot that i have dubbed the "duck mecca" due to low water, its pretty sad looking this year, but i am looking forward to hunting it in the years to come. i gave the farmer a bottle of grey goose to seal the deal...i have a new best friend :)

im pretty sure i'll be allowed to wheel there too if i want to! after a bit of duck/goose hunting in the am, i will be heading out to the lake for a boat ride to find some new spots in the pm
 
did about 3 miles of walking trying to find shallow enough water to hunt...thats no fun with 50-60lbs of gear strapped to your body. good god.

i did find a spot with ducks though (not where i was hunting this morning) brining the boat out of the garage and loading up the decoys in hopes that the weather tomorrow will move a few more in.

my offer still stands to anyone in the mwc who wants to give duck hunting a try:) all you have to do is drive to iowa lol
 
the front edge of the migration creeped into iowa with this storm...its on like donkey kong kids. bring on the long days and short nights. oh and please god, some more rain!
 
i got out yesterday...hunted in the new spot, but didn't quite find the area i wanted to hunt in the dark (it was about a 3 mile boat ride in narrow shallow channels to get there) but i was close. too bad there were thousands landing where i wanted to go. i managed to shoot 2...now i know for sure how to get where i want to go though.
 
gettin lonely in here...where are all the bow hunters? i know iowa deer populations took a big hit this year :(

got out in a field goose hunting this am with some buds...shot 5 honkers out of 2 flocks. should have shot into a few other flocks, should have stayed a few more minutes. had a big group of birds come in and try to land right where we were hunting as we pulled out of the field. goose for dinner tomorrow!
 
I have been working too much lately. I went out last weekend but somehow forgot my release. I brought my shotgun my grandpa left me when he passed and got 3 grouse. When I was cleaning them it hit me that monday would be 5 years since he passed. It was kinnda cool. Now Ive got one more weekend before gun season.
 
Got my gun zeroed in today. Nov 17 is opening for gun season in Indiana.
 
Sitting in the blind right now, busted 2 does and a decent 10 point on my way in. They went into a ditch @ 45 yards from where I am currently sitting. 25mph winds is bringing the suck. Hope to get some action here shortly once sun up, this cloud cover is delaying shooting light!

didnt get any pics aside from the one is sent you. 3mp came out looking like crap on my comp. oh well... similar in size to this one. same stand, same pattern. they may have been siblings born a year or 2 ago.

when i get the 8er, ill be SURE to get pics. taking the rifle out to be double sure. lol.

im missing the best duck hunting of the year so far due to work...ballsack. cant wait to get home
 
we did some doe whacking before the rifle hunters showed up.

6 does and a button from the group.

i whacked two.

freezer meat, check.

can't wait for alternative methods. that 9-pointer that snorted at me at last light is gonna get it in december.

school started, started drinking way too much, computer crapped out so i only go to the library and use the internet for homework, met a new lady friend, more drinking, retired the jeep to trail only (still street legal) and bought a daily, 1/4 life crisis (slight pregnancy scare)... ya know, the usual. :dunno:

come hunt our apartment complex, for a month strait we had either a pond full of ducks or geese every night.

i can't tell you how bad i wanted to just lob an arrow into that pond. the picture is from my balcony. we keep the bows inside though. we have a 10yard indoor range as well. :smoker:

full freezer = full belly :)

the ladies taste better this time of year anyway. they don't have all that testosterone running through their body.
 
I went scouting up north last weekend. Saw a lot of sign. My buddy's cabin was full this weekend, he's gonna try and squeeze me in next weekend.

Dad dropped a big doe this morning. He said he sniped her from about 25yds. BOOM! HEAD SHOT! He also said she was a big'un.
