Hunters/archers

no high fence at all, but we have over 3000 acres now, and it has creek and river bottoms running through it and mix that with timbered corridors, CRP fields and crops..we have a receipe for LOTS of deer. We have friends that come from Utah that stack a 16' trailer with deer each year and they live off that meat until the next season. It is quite the spectical to see it when we have the processing day in the shed...it is a mess but the dogs and coyotes love it! :D

Take pics this year!

Lol I've just ate deer my whole life, never had the urge to bird hunt Prolly cause I've never ate them, I hear duck is nasty, but I have no clue, as for trophy hunting, I think that's in the eye of the beholder, ill whack and stack some does but when it comes to my buck ill either eat tag soup or get a mature buck

nope duck and goose are like anything, its all in how you prepare it. just like with any wild game, don't dry it out or it will be the worst thing you've ever eaten

Grandma has over 35 years worth of pictures of the hunters and the animals...of course they are old 35mm photos but they are cool to see. She can remember back to when whitetail deer were released in this part of the world. She is 85 now but was an avid hunter for years. I have a few shots of the nicer bucks that have been harvested over the years, not too many pics of the doe slaughtering :D. I will get some this season for ya  as landowners we get 24 free tags right off and we can unlimited doe tags for like $6 each. We also can file for nuscience tags. There are different regulations surrounding those tags.

i still think you need to dig me some shallow water marshes on the cheeze ranch :) i'd love to have a duck honey hole in missou. one of these days i might actually make it there to see

We are just too far off the fly ways. We would live to have some duck hunting here but we just dont catch the flights right. I have a spot that I am considering putting in a small 3 acre marsh bc it has a riparian buffer along the creek and these 3 acres are useless to me now bc I can not get the larger equipment back into it to plant/harvest. I may need your expertiese on design for something like that bc we are not knowledgable on duck habitat.

An old timer up north told me they used to save all the little chunks from processing and put it in a 5 gallon bucket with a chain in it. Then they would freeze it and hook the other end of the chain to a fence post. The coyotes would tear it up but it would keep them out in the open for quite a while. Now its illegal up here so Ive never tried it.

anytime man...i believe you can actually get some places to do the design for free. there is such a big push to create more wetlands in the midwest that there are a lot of resources available. flyways don't mean as much as they used to, basically food and habitat are the name of the game anymore. if you build it, they will come...

rathbun lake holds a ton of ducks during the migration and one of the biggest waterfowl duck farms/clubs in missouri is in sumner...and i know guys who shoot a lot of fowl around kirksville. the problem is if there is no habitat for them in an area, they usually just pass over it.

That would be awesome to see.

Tags like that are unheard of around here!

I was on the north west side of wisconsin hanging treestands this last weekend. My buddy and I got 10 stands up and still managed to kill 2 30 packs of PBR and a bottle of jack. I learned drunk kayak fishing gets pretty intense :)

Drunk kayaking is pretty awesome. I still want to try kayak fishing but I'm thinking about selling my kayak. I haven't used it this year at all, doubt I will. I'm not sure yet, though.

I caught a 20" small mouth and had the most fun fight ever. Between the two of us we probably had 35 smallmouth over 12". The river was about 2' lower then normal so we were banging around on the rocks a lot. The kayaks dry storage area held about half a bag of ice and a 12 pack.

Kayak fishing is fun. I just sold both of our kayaks. Then went out and bought a new canoe!
