Hunters/archers

those red squirrels are the worste. anything we let sit for a period of time they get into. they destroy insulation and wiring. we try to remove them.

deer, rabbits, and other critters have been into my parents garden REALLY bad this year. i attribute it to the mild winter. there wasnt a ton of die off from starvation.

come up to lake city Kman. ill put you in my stands. heck, we even have a football field sized clover plot out back.

my dogs caught a rabbit today. it was sitting in the sun all day with a chewed up leg, prolly not good to eat right?

i eat everything i shoot...im strongly against not eating what you kill. if you give some away to people because they want it, thats another story. i like eating wild game and i like eating game birds especially.

i am not a trophy hunter as you might guess :)

Lol I've just ate deer my whole life, never had the urge to bird hunt Prolly cause I've never ate them, I hear duck is nasty, but I have no clue, as for trophy hunting, I think that's in the eye of the beholder, ill whack and stack some does but when it comes to my buck ill either eat tag soup or get a mature buck

I ran around about a 1000 acres tonight and kicked up a bunch of does and yearlings, plenty of turkey and only 3 bucks, 2 which will be shooters this year. The drought really has things screwed up in my part of the world. I dd come upon a good mess of doves that are roosting over where we had a failed wheat crop, so come Sept 1 will be casing that area out. My ladder stands are all still in good shape except for one that needs a new seat cushion, damn squirrels. I wont kill anything I wont eat unless it is in the name of varment control..like skunks, ground hogs or coyotes etc

yeah, retarded isn't it?

all the anti-crossbow crowd makes fun of xbows, and then they go out with their dialed-in 300 yard rifles during rut.

Yeah I agree, to me using a rifle is like being a sniper, not much talent in picking them off when your so far away they can't see or smell you

I love to smoke does from 300 yards out...but it is nuscience control for us. We get up to 150 tags a year.....I dont care how someone gets them killed, I just want the numbers controlled. On our farms the rule is you MUST take a doe before you even think about taking a buck. If you shoot out of order, you pay the fine that we assess to the hunting fees.....and yes, it is in the paperwork they sign when they come to hunt as well. Grandma is really impressed with bow hunting so she has a lot more respect for them as hunters as a whole, but she understands that we need to mow them down with fire power too b/c they cost us thousands of dollars a year in damage to crops, fences etc...not to mention the fil has hit 3 this year alone with his truck.

parents have lost 2 chickens to a coyote... guess ill be posting up in the backyard this weekend. anyone got any good distress calls to recommend? lol.

Any rabbit in distress call. They charge that one here like they are mad. Only bad part is when the wolves are in. You better know the difference between the two, as the wolves will come running also.

Using rifles in my area works as well as a shotgun. If you shoot 40 yards out here that is a long ways as the terrain is not very open. Forest land is the main terrain here. Fields are south of Crivitz.

I like shooting and hunting long range. I practice a lot out to 800 yards, usually step up to 1000 or more before my trips to WY. I've shot plenty of animals up close, as close as 7yards, but there is something cool about getting the conditions right and sending a precision shot a long ways with a handloaded bullet out of a purpose built weapon.

Oh I understand it as population control but to hunt them that way I don't believe in it, 150 tags??? Holy xxxx < like that. How many deer do you have on said property? High fence?
