help installing my stroker?

I would order the new thermostat and water pump, they are cheap and it is nice to have a piece of mind that they are new at the same time as the motor. just my $.02

what temperature thermostat?

also im thinkin i may get a new valve cover too, i just got a new oil pan. i just wish they had one that said 4.6 on the top of it

Not sure on that one, that would be a good question to ask in the tech forums. My first guess would be 190, but that is merely a guess. Check w/ Collin (BIGSLVRXJ) b/c I think he ordered a new VC and you can ask him about it and the results etc.

talked to chad today, i should get a call friday for delivery. what weekend works best for you Iowa guys? ill work around your schedule

Don't know about the Iowa guys but i should be free all weekends except next weekend. :D

I'd go with 190 in a stroker myself, but make sure you have good ventilation and high flow water pump and fan, not stock stuff. Jeeps run hot to start with, a stroker has more heat buildup and it needs a hi flow pump and better ventiation such as hood scoop or vents in the hood. Heck with my rebuild of a stock motor I'm adding hi flow pump and hood ventilation.....I think I have a hood scoop for my offroader too but I forget if it survived the tornado or not.
Oh and you can modify the cooling system from closed to open for under a hundred $ that helps too.

I am thinking that possibly the weekend of June 6&7 would be a good one for me. I know that the next 4 weekends after that I am booked. But that is just me, so if everyone else has a weekend that works better for them go right ahead. I will double check my planner at the office tomorrow to make sure I am not possibly double booking myself.

June 6th and 7th would work fine for me. Gives me a week to get all my parts in order and line up some tools and a solid workspace. Not to mention this coming weekend and next week are our busiest of the summer (boater season kicks off) the bar will be packed.

But if that works for all the other Iowa guys, thats fine with me.

oh btw, i ordered a 180* thermostat, high flow water pump, and i already have a brand new radiator and hood vents.

my headers got here today as well

I never noticed, or possibly over looked it...what year is your rig that we are putting this into?

I have yet to work on a 00-01 with the individual coil packs, but surely it can not be too difficult since we are basically just talking about swapping out the long block etc. Between Jeeps and my farm vehicles, I am about to average one motor swap a month :D I will be talking w/ Collin and Mike to see what their plans are looking like. I think Collin is pretty open and we can bring my truck out and haul the hoist along w/ a few tool boxes and some cheese. Too bad that SOB only gets like 13 MPG!

I wish it got that good :D On a good night in the shop we can wipe out 15# pretty easily..that is alot of processed jalapeno cheese and cheap chips

wow haha, well lets see if we can beat your record for the night lol, if we get done early we'll head out on the boat for some tubing and skiing and stuff

Dates work for me, just need to make sure I can get saturday off. And see if I can hook up with Collin. So if I can get to Collin & he can get to Tyler, Just how frickin far are you away?

Holey chit man I just checked, you are 8 hours away, one way.

Ah you'll be alright. I only have to drive 45 mins to get there! :D

yeah, it is around 8 hours for me too, add another couple hours for me to get to DSM, so it will be a good day trip to get out there.
