Those M&Ps seem like they're quite legit! I'd really like to get my hands on one for a short time to decide if I'm ever going to actually buy one.
As far as carry rounds go, I use (have) Winchester Ranger, CorBon and Hornady Critical Defense. They all seem like they're quality.

I now open carry every time I go wheeling and camping. There are some crazies up there now a days.
My buddy picked one of these up a while back and he let me run about a hundred rounds through it over the weekend. I like it. The recoil of the 40 was barely there and it was pretty damn accurate considering how small it is. Its almost identical to my kahr cw9 dimention wise. The only issue was one of the mags would eject when firing, a few tweaks to the magazine where it latches fixed it though.

Well I used to not be, but apparently in today's society if you're not a Liberal GBLT and actually have an ability to think for yourself then you are crazy. Apparently you're now supposed to care more about the people of foreign nations than the rightful citizens of your own. It seems that now a days, if your opinion can be in any way construed as offensive to some other person then you're not allowed to have it. Obviously it's now socially acceptable to limit my right to freedom of choice and speech so as to make the world a free and equal place for everyone. So yes, I guess I am the crazy one. Oh well, then I guess I open carry to defend myself against the sheep who wish to enslave us all to their beliefs in 3rd party censorship, social aid at the expense of our nations future, and the rights of illegal immigrants over those of citizens.

Any of you shot a Rossi M92? Its a winchester clone for a fraction of the price, the reviews I've seen so far have been good. Thinking of picking up one in .44 mag with a 16" barrel. I can still drop a deer with it and it weighs half as much as a 12 gauge and I can toss it in the jeep for camping trips.

This past June while hiking into one my favorite fishing spots I had a granola muncher ask me why I was packing my 44 mag. My response was that it was for bears and human idiots. The look on his face was priceless. After that the conversation was real short and he left.......Guess I am a crazy too so add me to the club.

That reminded me of a conversation I had with a sheriff in Wyoming about 10 years ago. I was fishing at the southern tip of Pathfinder Reservoir, basically in the middle of nowhere, when the sheriff pulled up. I was telling him how lucky he was to be out patrolling that beautiful part of the state and he was saying how lucky I was to be out drinking beer and fishing. Our conversation ended with him saying something like: 'This is Wyoming, everyone is carrying a gun'.

That guy was a deputy so this doesn't quite apply but I drive through Wyoming all the time. Along with Utah, Nevada, Idaho and Arizona.

Wow....... Unfortunately that Deputy is grossly misunderstanding his purpose and mission.
That bike rider was being detained for the sake of continuing the arguement. Good gawd. It certainly didn't sound like there was any reason to cuff the guy for safety initially and after listening to the audio - no reason developed later in the contact to justify it.
We don't get to know if the Deputy witnessed the careless/reckless driving or speeding prior to the stop - it was never verbalized so we gotta assume the biker was stopped simply based on a citizen complaint. If it was just on complaint..... it's even weak to justify the stop. If he witnessed the violations and could support the misdemeanor crime(s) then that should have been the initial part of the conversation. "Sir, you're under arrest for Misdemeanor Reckless Driving." That would justify the handcuffs and detention. None of that occurred that we were able to hear in the audio.
I totally understand having to deal with the armed public one-on-one and holding one's personal safety at the highest level - especially when a cover car is (apparently in this case) 45 minutes away...... but damn.
Stop him, acknowledge his open carry, verbalize that you need him to keep his hands away from the gun at all times during the stop..... and then get on with the reason for the stop. Get ID and vehicle documents, verify ID and vehicle legitimacy, issue the summons or warning...... and go on with your day.
If the bike rider had started the contact with aggressive movements and angry dialog that raises concern for the guy's intentions..... yeah, I'd have done what I could to secure his hands and remove his firearm for my safety. When things calm down and my cover arrives, he gets his hands and gun back.
I support open carry. I've encountered a handful of open carrying citizens. I've only disarmed one and that was when I suspected that he had been drinking (Prohibited Use of a Firearm statute violation) but otherwise, I be sure to tell the person what I expect of them, why they're being detained and keep my personal safety amped up a notch until I'm done.

totally agree -- I posted the quote I did, because I think the attitude it evidences is a large part of the encroaching police state in the US:

If I were open carrying I wouldn't have a problem with an officer asking to secure the weapon while making contact with me (pulled over, etc) provided the security is for the duration of the contact and the weapon is returned to me in the same state (well, if the officer unloads it that's okay provided I get the ammunition).

Mine took the full waiting period. Think it's a 90 day turn around. They are really busy. They will tell you the expected turn around when you are there. I know some one that works there and she said the big hold up is with the CBI.
