GUNS & AMMO

I don't typically join forums that are for things I don't own or like. I might check out that forum though. As it is I don't have 1000$ just laying around to buy a gun with.

You're .308 AR is looking god man. Its an AR-10 right? 7.62x51/.308??

Actually the CO AR15 board you do not have to own an AR to join. Gr-ranted that is the general purpose of that board but there is guys on there who don't have an AR, think of it as local CO firearms enthusiasts. It is a great group of guys over there, much like here, lots of sarcasm but overall a bunch of good people. Some of the guys here are actually over there as well.

Thanks!

Yes .308/7.62x51, the AR 308 world is not as unformed as the general 5.56, several patterns and they don't share parts or even mags. Armalite is AR-10 and I find more expensive overall, technical mine is based on the Knights Armament SR25/ DPMS 308 pattern version. CMMG's version uses all of those parts. It is a 16" barrel and as you see it with a 20 rd mag of 150gr FMJ weights about 12 lbs 8 oz. Definitely kicks a lot more than 5.56.

With only a 16" barrel are you able to properly take advantage of the longer range power of the .308 over the .556?

I wasn't aiming for a long range sniper rifle.(ha I am puny) Going off the concept(s) of the "one rifle to rule them all or if you could only grab one" I know these weight a lot more than a 5.56 so weight was one issue. I wanted something that I could pack through the woods without killing my arms, something that had a better chance of stopping what ever with one hit, so less ammo no big deal, could also hunt with as well.

With a 16" barrel it packs a whole lot more punch than a 5.56 in any given range. I figure with my 5x compact scope I have out to 600 meters effectively with no problems. That video I posted earlier in one of the previous pages shooting this I couldn't precisely fine tune the scope as that range was closed for repairs, but was at the silhouette range hitting the 500 meter gong over and over consistently.

So definitely better range than a short barrel AR and with a lot more powerful round. 7.62x51 will also be plenty plentiful at all those overrun military check points too.

After all my gun trading and selling I finally got my AR in 308 done. Come on Zombie invasion!

OMG

Bring on the Zombies!!!!!

I just installed my SGWorks kit onto the SKS, it measure 30 3/8" long with the flash hider.

Bullpup SKS for eliminating the walking dead, bullpup Walther G22 .22LR for hunting down squirels and rabbits to eat, the Mossberg 500 12ga for when its time to get up close and personal, and then the FNP-9 for when I'm all out of options. All I need now is my long range bolt action heavy hitter.

I'm on the look out for some detachable iron sights for the SKS. I need a low profile front and I'll probably go with a flip-up rear. Either way, I need to find some that aren't too pricey but still of decent quality.

Yeah, I really like the Kel Tec KSG but when it comes to shotguns the Mossberg 500 is the way to go. Stupid reliable and simple, nicely priced, and proven in combat many times over.

Still.....

..... thats just sweet looking. I wonder if they'll offer them in DFE?

You like ugly things, now wonder you're into XJs.

I agree on the 500, I have one in fact.

Thats what I tell my wife every day. :D :eyes:

I actually think the Kel Tec is one of the better looking bull-pup shotguns out there. There are some Saiga options out there, but I think the Kel Tec is probably the better made and designed option. Although semi-auto and magazine fed would make up-close Zombie splattering pretty fun.

Removed the bayonet lug and now useless front sight post. Managed to shorten up a bit in the process. Weapon now measure 29" total length.

Check out the Akdal MKA-1919 is semi-automatic 12 guage. It isn't as upper end as the Kel Tec but it still looks pretty nice.

Very nice Dutch, so you are pleased with the Bull pup kit? Interested to hear how it all went together.

Makes me want to get an SKS just to do a bullpup kit, just don't have the patience to wait 6 months to get one. Are you not glad I pointed you in the right direction and sent you the link? You're welcome my friend, glad I can help you out......................... :kissyou:

Overall the kit went on w/o much fuss. My only complaint thus far is that the 2 side rails for the front 3-rail kit don't actually sit in line with the weapon. The 2 bolts that hold them on along with the bracket aren't in line with eachother so the rail winds up pointing down slightly. As such I'm just using the bottom the rail and will be getting a pistol grip with built in flash light.
