GUNS & AMMO

GUNS & AMMO

I love savage rifles. Without question they are always the most accurate rifles I own out of the box.

I've found most of the people who hate them are browning snobs. Just like Toyota guys. They hate the things they don't own for no other reason than its just not as pretty or trendy.

I agree with Moab. Savage rifles are no frills work guns, read the reviews on them.

I have a rem 700 and love it, but for elk I used my lever action marlin last year. This your I will be looking for a .270, plent of bullet for elk but not overkill for deer.

This is my Savage Axis .223. I LOVE this little plinker. It'll shoot the pecker off a mosquito at 300yds.

I think I paid $200.00 for it from a guy off of Craigslist a few years ago. Did a few mods to it. I replaced the trigger spring and it brought it down to about a 3.5lb pull and put a custom cheek rest on.

I think Savage gets a bad wrap sometimes. The two that I've owned (30-06, 223) have been very reliable. I think a lot of guys that have malfunctions usually treat them like crap because they're inexpensive; when they never clean or service them and they break, then they start bitching. But that's any gun...

That's a fact. I went to Sportsman's Warehouse today. Wasn't even any 30.06 ammo there, which is usually available online. Loved the rope around the gun counter, and the limited admission to said area. :(

Was at the range a week ago and found out my S&W 915 sights are off. Instead of investing money into it, I decided next year to buy a new 9mm and if I ever do carry, I picked something lighter then my 915.

The LGS has one right now just like that (with all the other stuff: extra mag, holster, mag holster, and speed loader) for 473. I like the safety designs on it (palm safety and trigger safety) and how light it is.

GUNS & AMMO

Posted this elsewhere on naxja today but realized it fit this thread.

Folks,
Gun and ammo buyers beware!! The gun and ammo frenzy continues.. I managed to score a couple of cases of ammo at the sporting goods store this weekend . As I was taking the tailgate down and putting it in the back end of my pickup, I was approached by an attractive young lady. She struck up a conversation about how she supports the second amendment, loves to go to the gun range, goes shooting when she can and the like. Then she shocked me by asking if I would be interested in bartering sex for ammo. Once I regained my composure, I said: "OK, what kind of ammo do you have?" She left.

Nice.

I was fortunate enough the other week to find a guy on armslist selling 3-30rd mags for the AR at $20/ea. It wasn't even on the front page. I don't know how I managed to be the guy to get them.

Also have every part on order to finish my 5.56 AR with the polymer lower. If/when my Spike's lower comes in, I plan on investing a bit more money into the lower parts and keeping the mil-spec stuff in the poly lower for the dedicated .22 for the kid. And for me when I wanna shoot all day for cheap. Or anything really.

I'm looking for 20rd metric FAL mags if anyone knows of any for non-panic prices. Most places are sold out and the few that do have them want $25-$50/ea.

I'm hoping AIM Surplus gets re-stocked sometime soon- they sell them for $17.99.

Just an FYI...

Spoke to one of my buddies who works for SAAMI and they're anticipating an ammo shortage until 2nd - 3rd quarter of 2014! And that's being optimistic...

Folks around here finally got smart and started using brass catchers and have been reloading their own rounds. In-fact, my largest source of casings used to be firing ranges like Cherry Creek/Whispering Pines - but lately someone's been coming in and swooping them all up.

It's ironic...we get to "keep" our rifles, but yet we have no ammunition. Funny how that works.

Jim

yeah, either ironic or a conspiracy :eyes: no need to ban firearms if you can effectively turn them into clubs.

GUNS & AMMO

Something to consider...

The DHS has over 160,000 agents. They just bought or is in the process of buying 1.6 billion rounds. That's only 1000 rounds per agent. Even if only a quarter of their agents are armed that's only 4000 rounds. Considering training and such it's not that huge of a number.

They also started ordering these long before the whole gun world blew up.

agreed... now if I can figure out why they are arming the social security administration, I'll feel happy.

I'm sure that 1.6 billion did not include 22lr, so where did all of that go?:dunno:

I guess I picked the wrong day to recycle my tin foil hat...

.22 ammo isn't available because they simply aren't producing it. The profit is in the higher caliber rounds so that's what the ammo companies are producing right now.
